Hello,
I have a 1999 Ford F-550 7.3 diesel flat bed truck. We had some repairs done on it recently. We had a new oil pan ,dip stick, rear main seal, new wiring harness, glows plugs put on it and it is still leaking oil from the engine. The mechanic that worked on it told us that when he took off the intake on the turbo it had alot of oil in it.He said that he felt the injectors, turbo, and pump may need to be replaced and would cost us between 5-6 thousand to get it fixed. We are hoping that this is not the case for we already have alot invested in the truck along with the additional repairs already.Any advice or info would be gratly appreciated. Thanks,Jim
If your not having problems with the vehicle missing the injectors are fine. if your getting alot of oil in the uper in take chances are that the seals inside the turbo are leaking and if you have excessive blowby then perhaps a replacement of the o-rings on the injectors might be needed but i would say that 5-6 thousand sounds way off the mark as far as replacement parts and shop labor
if it is missing then perhaps it is a weak injector ot the timing is a lil off on the injector pump. stripping the top end down would be a good idea . i would first power wash the whole engine and run it to see where that leak is coming from. my bet is that on the turbo you will probably find that oil is probably leaking from the return line back to the pan. that seems to be a common problem with most diesels. please rate this it would be appreciated greatly

If I were you I would clean off the top of the engine really good. Then I would have someone run the engine up against the govenor at about 3300 RPM and I would watch for your oil leak. First off your fuel injectors can't leak oil externally. I take it that your leak is on the outside of the engine. More then likely the turbo isn't bad either it will usually dump oil into the engine and you will not see the leak but you will see blue smoke in the exhaust. So I would try to locate my external leak up on the top side of your engine. More then likely it is a o-ring on one of youor oil lines or the gasket for your oil pump. I don't think that you need all of those repairs. I would try to fix it myself.
