Question about 2000 Ford F350 Super Duty Super Cab
Weird, I know. If I open any door and shut it, it will stop blowing for a few minutes. Leaving door ajar, stops horn until the timer shuts off the dome lights, then it starts again. The key is not in the ignition.
It is not the panic button, since lights do not flash and horn is constant.
Happened 6 months ago, then went dormant until yesterday.
Poltergeists on on spring break, so it couldn't be them, either...
I think your horn relay is making contact from behind your horn buttons on your steering wheel. Usually as time creeps up the insulation that is placed on the positive lead for the horn gets worn out from constant horn action. If it is worn down the horn is touching a ground and completing the circuit and thus making the horn sound. I would start with that first before getting more technical. Let me know. Gabe

I know the problem. Mine does it too. The fix is easy. Open & close doors to find which one is causing the problem. Open that door panel and find the release latch at back of door. There are 2 wire harnesses attached to the latch. Unhook the wires and spray sockets of latch. There is a ballbearing that gets stuck in switch. Lubricate that ballbearing and work latch manually several times. This problem will reoccur occasionally especially when there has been a lot of rain. Good Luck

The door latch has a switch built into it to replace the old door jamb switch. If the switch is faulty the system will think the door is ajar. A scanner will show an open switch.
YOU SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY.

I think you are right.Find the short and repair it or you can try to take the bulb out of the dome light and keep the switch on and see if that helps but you won't have a dome light.

SOURCE: CC and horn quit working. I
the horn and the cruse control both get there power fom fuse #13 it is a 15amp fuse in the instrument panel fuse box, also the cruse get a power up response from the PCM and if it thinks that one of the doors is open it will not power up the cruse, so you will have to fix the dome light circuit before the cruse will work, but first check the fuse #13.
let me know if there is any thing else i can do for you.
