The most common problem with this is the smooth version of serpentine belt tensioner. Yours like all others wear out and tilt and the rain or snow gives it that extra nudge it needs to slip off, the tensioner cannot be repaired but must be replaced. About cheapest is $65 from Autozone and is changed from underneath with a 15mm wrench, long arms, and alot of patience because you will only get 1/10th a turn on the nut per wrench position. This repair should fix you up for a long time. Good Luck!

An alternative to this is to purchase a more expensive conversion kit which consists of a grooved version tensioner and special serpentine belt for $195, the installation is the same.

NOTE:Ensure that the plastic shroud that protects the belts from wheel well and ground spray is still in place, it is not uncommon for unknowing indiduals to remove it and leave them off.

Did the belt break or just fall off? If it broke, a replacement can be had at nearly any auto part store, and the belt routing is usually shown on a decal under the hood. If it is unbroken and fell off, you have other problems. Check the condition of all of the pulleys to make sure they are undamaged and aligned. Check the belt tensioner to make sure it turns freely. Check the water pump pulley for any

Sorry, this craptop is posessed by gremlins. I was typing away and the message disappeared in mid-sentence. As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted, check the water pump pulley for any play, and replace if needed. If yolu found this helpful, please don't forget to rate it.

How to remove serpintine belt

Release the belt tensioner and the belt will virtually fall off the pulleys. Make a sketch of the route of the belt before you do that as it can become confusing when you try refit the new belt.

Picture diagram to show me how to put the belt back on

If your serpintine belt fell off, and it is not broken, you have a much bigger problem then you think.
Before puttin a new belt on, check all pulleys, Power steerin, alternator, AC,Belt tensioner, waterpump The AC may or may not move ,
If one of those units don't move, don't put the belt on till you replace that which didn't move

The serpintine belt shredded on one side, and fell off. Much coolant was released from the vehicle. Don't know which happened first. The pulleys all move freely, except for the crank pulley, which I...

You lost coolant and the water pump pulley is "wobbly". You'll need to replace the water pump because the same thing is going to happen when you replace the belt and *** coolant.
