Question about 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT
In the last couple months, it would start fine and then it started to seem like it was having trouble starting, like a weaker cranking when i would turn the key, but it would still start on the first try. On friday, I go to start the car and it tries, but won't (it was cold out). I let the key sit in the "on" position for about a minute and then try again and it starts (I did have to push the gas, because it seemed to not have enough fuel or something). Tried to start it today, sunday (warm today), and it cranks about 2 times and then just stops, then I take the key out and try again and it cranks once and stops. If i let it sit for a few minutes, it will then crank 2 times again (like roo-roo, then silence), but not enough to actually start. Also when in the "on" position, I believe it's the fuel pump that i can hear for about 2 seconds and the oil and battery light stay on, and security light isn't on so it's not that. Any help would be appreciated
Your battery is getting weak from age sounds like to me ..take it and have someone pull a load test on it and see.. but this sounds like an older battery not holding a charge anymore. Jerry and holler if you need more.
