Question about 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
Lately I have been having difficulty starting my car. Checked the battery - not a problem. Thought maybe the alternator - I have plenty of juice in the battery. If alternator was dead, so would the battery be. Tried to start it the other night. With much difficulty and a horrible electrical smell, I got it running. Now it won't start at all. I'm convinced it is the starter. Can anyone confirm? When I try to start, it doesn't do the click-click like a bad battery. I have plenty of gas. My tools are limited so opening the hood is about the extent of what I can do.
If it's the starter, does anyone know how complicated that will be to replace?
Check your conections on the battery if they are carroded then you need to clean them if they are not tight that could be a problem also.if that doesn't work make sure all cannections to starter and selanoid are tight and clean if that doesn't work then more than likely it is your starter but i have never changed a starter on that type of car but most are not to hard a couple of bolts but can't be for sure on how hard it would be.
