Question about 1997 Oldsmobile Silhouette

My 1997 pontiac silhoutte van is saying it is getting hot but if i step onthe gas the gage goes down and sometimes the fans work and sometimes they dont

My 01 Pontiac Montana is trying to overheat at high power


If your vehicle doesn't actually overheat, just getting hot, I think that's the normal behaviour for these cars. My 03 AWD behaves the same way. When driving uphill, especialy when towing, the temperature rises close to the red marking, but I have never experienced it overheating. I think that the temperature has to rise much over the normal driving temperature to activate the two electric fans.

Gas gage isn't working


first check the connector that goes threw the floor from under the van it on the drivers side under the rear door unplug it and look for corosion if clean then the sending unit in the tank

My 2002 Oldsmobile Silhoutte's coolant gage running hot


Change the thermostat,and bleed the air out of the system,and make sure the cooling fans are coming on,and then going off,on there own,with the ac off,if this was helpful,please rate,thank you.

TEMPEATURE GAGE READS HOT WHEN AT AN IDOL BUT MOTOR


If cooling fan works, it maybe a sticking thermostat not opening fully. Check that cooling system is full (check cold) first. Then if that seems ok, i would replace the thermostat.
