Question about 1989 Lincoln Town Car
That could be a number of things
first i would try a complete tune up dist cap rotor button plugs and wires and a fuel filter and air filter
then if that didnt help i would change the fuel pressure regulator!!!!

Had same problem on mine. Would bet it is the throttle position sensor. Located on top of throttle body.
It is held in place by two screws and has a wire with quick disconnect attached. Cost less than $30.00. Install is less than 10 minutes.
