There is a small hole wear you insert a allen wrench or allen key to loosen a set screw to get the button out.

Go to your local auto retailer and you can but special glue that is like superglue, but cures in sunlight. Underneath the mirror there is usually a single screw. Remove that and the mirror releases the plate that sticks to the glass.

Need to reglue rearview mirrow to front window. Got glue made for that purpose. Need to try and remove "silver button" from the back of the mirror so I can glue the button to the window then attach the...

The "silver button " is held in place with an anchor screw which you will need to look for and chose the right screwdriver to loosen it,then it should just slide out with your thumb.Gluing the mirror on is a one chance try so make sure it is in the right place the first time and hold the silver thing there with tape over night. The next day you can just slide the mirror on and tighten the set screw, then you are good to go!

How does the rearview mirror fit back onto the windshield?

Just about every rearview mirror is now attached to the windshield with a special glue. Normally there is a metal piece that the mirror stem actually attaches too. To fix this yourself, you want to do is visit a local auto parts store and pickup a kit to reattach the metal piece to the windshield. Do not try super glue, it will not hold. Follow the directions on the kit for an easy repair.

INTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR FELL OFF

Just about all auto parts stores carry a little kit that includes slovent and glue to replace the metal "nub" onto the glass. There is a screw on the mirror that attaches the mirror to this "nub". Do not use force to remove the old glue or nub, windshield will crack.
