My 1997 Pontiac Sunfire has a gasoline odour through the vents the last few weeks. What could the possible cause(s) be, and what might the repair bill be?

have the fuel system checked for leaks and have the EVAP system checked for proper operation. as far as repair costs depends on what is causing your problem.

I change thermostat, water pump, housing coolant sensor, but yet when i start driving the tempeture goes up and down and the heat gets kind of cool not all

poor coolant flow water pump? air lock in system? bring to operating temp shut down than open air bleed screws.

Heat stopped working in 2000 pontiac sunfire

With blower on high and tempature to max heat check to see if you have good air flow in all mode selections (defrost, vent, floor etc.). If so and you still have no heat then check heater core hose going from engine to inside car to heater core with vehicle running and coolant tempature about half on guage. If both hoses are hot and coolant in radiator/overflow bottle is full then hot cold blend door is stuck in cold position. If coolant level is low you will get no heat, check coolant level first.

1997-98 sunfire 2-2 liter changed thermostad and changed heater core still no heat. half and half mixture of antifreeze put in what else can i do car is running normal no overheating

First of all, make sure the heater core isn't air locked. With the engine running, and your heat temperature on high, loosen one end of the heater hose and see if you can get the air out of it.

WHY IS MY 98 PONTIAC SUNFIRE OVER HEATING? HAS NEW RADIATOR COOLING FAN NO LEAKS IN COOLING SYSTEM.

A thermostat that does not open and close would cause these very symptoms. Since it does not allow coolant to flow through the system, it will make the engine overheat. Since it won't allow the "heated" coolant to pass by your fan, the heat will continually blow cold air.
Stop driving the car immediately, becuase the next step will be some blown gaskets - especially head gasket. Other possible reasons can be as follows:-- It could be just low on coolant. if it is then add coolant... with low coolant the water pump can not move enough coolant to supply hot coolant to the heating system . also if its low the motor will over heat fast..... If the system is full then you may have other problems.. such as 1) bad thermostat 2) bad radiator cap ( not holding pressure so it will leak coolant) 3) blown head gasket . 4) bad heater core (leaking coolant out.. check the floor board under the dash on the passenger side.) 5) bad hose or clamp. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Where to refill a flushed radiator on 1996 pontiac sunfire

If there is no radiator cap on the radiator, that would indicate to me that the procedure for flushing and re-filling is done with the motor running, and the heat on high. Filling is done by pouring antifreeze into the coolant reservoir.

Heater fan will only work on high other settings won't work 2002 Pontiac Sunfire?????

In most cases the heater switch has gone bad. I would check eBay or a junkyard, either local or on-line for a used replacement. The next most probable cause would be the blower resistor. Those are usually around $40. or more (new) at a parts store. Again it is more likely the switch. You can remove the old switch and check for continuity in the non-off positions with an ohm meter. Good luck!

My rear back brakes on my 1997 pontiac sunfire have been making a scraping noise for the past month. When I took the car in to have an allignment in a heated garage for over a hour on my way home they just...

When applied, brakes generate lots of heat... If noise was there after dirving for a while, likely the noise is not from ice. If noise is gone, wait and see if it returns, If it does, check rear brake linings to make sure they are OK (never hurts to check them once in a while anyhow!!!)

Try removing the plastic cover that sits between the radiator and the nose section of the car to check your radiator it may have a crack in it on the top. Atleast thats the problem I had with my 97 sunfire
