Question about 1997 Ford F350 Crew Cab
Smooths out when accelerator is pressed. Have changed all fuel filters and water in fuel is not on.Have run Lucas fuel treatment in tanks. Does not idle rough all the time.
This is a 7.3 I assume... if so then you most likely have an injector with a weak pintle spring. This is the spring inside the injector that forces the fuel to atomize when the plunger is pushed down by high oil pressure.
You can isolate this by a temperature differential reading on the exhaust manifold surface directly at the head at each cylinder. If you do not posess a tool for this then a trip to the dealer is needed so they can electronically short each injector until they find the one that is causing the problem.
