Question about 1999 Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

I am having problems with the wiper delay. The wipers will swipe once, and then stop but pop up about one inch as if to go again. Sometimes the wipers when in delay will swipe two to four times before shutting off. The low , and high settings work fine.

Mystery wipers..... the BCM is probably bad. It is expensive but that was what I have seen.

Wipers will go on for a bout 5 to 7 swipes and then stop for about 1 min to 2 min and then do 5 to 7 swipes again.. and no i don't have it set on intermiten. any ideas

Suspect a wiper switch issue. The switch controls the ground for wiper operation and could have an internal circuit board issue.

Wipers only work sometimes

check that you do not have the wiper control set on delay . It is the first stop on the arm and on some cars it is adjustable by turning the knob on the lever to give different delays according to the rain conditions. The next stop down will be continuous wipes at low speed and the last stop will be flat out speed of the wipers.

My 2004 Dodge Ram is having wiper delay issues. On the longest delay setting, the wiper will swipe three or four times in a row. This will vary depending on delay setting. Also the wiper sometimes will not...

This is a bad board, you will need to replace the wipermotor, the most common reason is the electronics in the motor are bad, replace the motor and this will solve the problem, you can test it before you remove the old one, connect connector to new motor and then run a ground from wipermotor case to neg battery terminal, some reqiure a ground some dont so try it with out ground first if motor runs then no ground needed, and then test the delay and the park with the new motor you will see thats the problem good luck. hope this helps.

Wipers swipe in off position randomly

Known issue with circuit board mounted on wiper motor. Has glitch which causes phantom sweeps. suggest replacing circuit board.

Sounds to me like a weak windshield wiper motor.  My 92 sable did this.  Replacing the motor solved the problem.
