12 means that the battery has been disconnected sometime in the last 255 starts. 55 is the end of the test. Any codes that are stored will be between these two numbers.

Have the vehicle checked for more trouble codes. P1221 means throttle position sensor (TPS) out of range. This could be a loose connection or a bad sensor.Either way, not a difficult repair at all.
it is possible for it to be a coil, the thing with fords are that it takes alot of time for the misfire counter to turn the check engine light on and at the smae time set a code for missfire, if you have a code reader available check to set if there is a po301-po302 -po303,and so on the p is for power tran the o is that it is a generic code 3 indicateds misfire, 01,02 indicate which cly. is misfiring , alot of time you have to drive the fords for awhile before it will set a misfire code. if you have a good scan tool you can go to mode 6 and check misfire counters for which cly. is missing. than you can check compression in that cly, chec coil and plug.
you can get codes with out scan tool, this is done by counting the engine light flashes, for example a long flash is the first didgt and then faster blinks would be the next number, for example long flash long flash long flash= 3 then fast flash ,fast flash, fast flash, fast flash =4 which would be code 34, to get the codes look in the engine compartment in front of the battery is the connector, you will need a small wire to jump two terminals, jump terminals with wire then turn key on and count flashes, i will give you a diagram to locate connector and it will show you which terminals to jump look at connetor closely to make sure you are jumping the correct terminals, you can turn the key off and on to restart the codes again,this may take you a few trys to get the hang of it but you can restart the codes by just turning the key off and back on, when your done just remove the jumper wire,also a diagram is enclosed to show you how the flashes go, hope this helps ,good luck.

Acura vehicles 1986-95 obd1 code retrieval
There are a few different ways to retrieve the codes for "check engine light" for Acura vehicles. One method is to use a led light (sometimes 2 led lights) on the computer or controller box itself. If it has 2 led lights, the color is red and amber. The red is used for flashing the codes whereas the amber is used for adjustment. If you have only a single led light indicator, then that is used for flashing the code.
The controller box can be found by lifting the carpet of the passenger side front foot well or floorboard. You can see the led lights without removing the controller. On other models, you can find the controller under the driver or passenger front seat.
The second way to get the code is using a jumper wire on the diagnostic connector located on the kick panel at the front passenger side. You then watch the codes being flashed at the dash panel after you turn the key on. To read the code being flashed is easy. Example: Code 23 is 2 long flashes followed by 3 short flashes. A longer pause separates the next code that follows.

OBD Code 12 - No Distributor Reference Pulse (Diagnostic Test Active)
The Engine Control Module-ECM uses the distributor reference pulse to calculate the engine speed. On
newer engines, the Crank Shaft Position Sensor performs this function.
Symptoms:
When flashing the Check Engine Light to read codes, code 12 will always display first, indicating the diagnostic system is active
The engine will not run with a "hard" code 12 set
Common Problems:
Chances are you will never need to diagnose a code 12. Rather, the problem would be a crank, no-start condition.
If code 12 does not flash, that would indicate a communication problem with the ECM.
Code 12 does not show when reading codes with a scan tool. If there
is a communication problem, the scan tool will let you know.

well code 12 is what it shows up first telling you it's running the test that is normal. if it reads code 12 and nothing else then that means everything is fine. well catalytic converters are expensive to buy i price checked one for you at auto zone its $147.99 with a 5yr warranty. good luck hope i helped
It has an electical problem. You need to take it to the dealership if you want it diagnosed correctly. It will need to be in limp in, and don't turn the car off as this is clearing the code out of the computer. Leave it running, tell the service advisor your situation and not to turn it off till someone can hook the scan tool to it. This will give them the cause of limp in, and should be able to be resolved after.
