Did you bleed rear brakes also? Should do all 4 whenever bleeding brakes starting w/ right rear, left rear, right front then left front. Sounds like air in lines.
The longer brake shoe goes ot the back side of the vehicle. If you replaced the front brakes did you replace the rubber brake line going to the caliper? Some times they collapse inside creating a one way valve that will not allow the hydraulic pressure to release. You mention brake shoes - don't know if you mean pads as on the front of most vehicles. (some vehicles have disc brakes all around) You don't say if front or back brakes are the culprit. Hope this helps. Let me know. Thanks.
jack up truck support truck remove brake caliper and support the caliper dont let it hang by the hose remove cotter pin from bottom of ball joint remove castle nut from ball joint use ball joint press to push ball joint up and out then use press to push in new ball joint make sure you grease them when you are finished both uper and lower press up and out.
on 1997 dodge ram 1500s you can look at the back of the front brakes and if you do have 4wheel abs you will have a brake line and an electrical line running tto the brake caliper. you can also look at the master cylinder, on the right side of the power brake booster (if youre looking from the front of the truck) there will be a metal brake distribution block if it has 2 lines running out of it you have 2 wheel abs...4 lines means 4 wheel abs
Sounds like a brake caliper hanging up. Check the slides to see that they're smooth working. Jack the right side up & make sure the front wheel turns fairly easy. If it's dragging alot then the caliper slide is fubar or the brake hose is collapsed internaly. Replace the hose if that's the case.
no you do not have to take off the axle, jack up and put on jackstands NEVER GET UNDER A VEHICLE ONLY SUPPORTED BY A JACK
