1. Check for a code P0128 stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

2. If there is a P0128, clear the code and see that the coolant fan turns off.

3. Replace the thermostat and check that the coolant temperature stays close to 195 degrees while driving.

Cooling fan stays on will not shut off makes the car shift real hard where is the relay switch so i can check it thanks

cooling fan relay is in the fuse and relay box which sits behind the driver side headlight in the S series.
you know if your a/c is on, the fan runs constantly anyway? i do not think making the fan stay off is going to change anything about the way the car shifts.

Today driving my 05 yukon the temp gauge fell from its normal operating temp of 200 to 160 and now stays there. when i restart the car if will go up to about 200 and then falls back down to 160

Two things come to mind. One would be the cooling fan running all the time, The other would be the thermostat opening too soon. You can observe the cooling fan while the vehicle is idling with the hood up. Give it time to warm up to the 200 mark and see if the fan comes on and stays on. If it does, then the thermostatic fan relay will have to be replaced. If the fan is functioning properly, then i would change the thermostat.

The fans wont stay to cool the engine

Engine is supposed to be between 180 and 200 degrees, and the fans are supposed to go off under 200.
That is very close to boiling.
So what makes you think the fans should stay on?
Have you actually used a thermometer or does the gauge go too high?
If the fans ever go on, then we know the fans and relay work.
The next suspect would be the temperature sensor in the radiator.
But try turning on the AC. That should force the fans to stay on.

Is it normal for 1997 cadillac deville to stay at 220-226 temp.

No,it is not,the temp should stay about 200 to 212,if the cooling fans are staying on,and not going off, then the cooling system has a problem, change the thermostat, and bleed the air from the cooling system.if this does not help, change the coolant sensor out with a new one.

We just got back from a five hour trip, shut the car off and cooling fan stayed on for about five minutes. I restarted the car, and it went from 200-1500 rpms slowly, shut it off and fan stayed on again....

I have a 2001 S60 and the thermo fans come on after nearly every trip for at least 5 minutes, I would check your coolant levels and certainly change the thermostat if the problem persists.

Security light just came on and stays on

i see you have multiple problems most of them are caused by your body communication module (BCM). It is more than likely shorted internally. Needs to be reprogrammed after it is replaced
