My 2003 trailblazer gear shift is stuck. I took off middle section pushed silver button. It releases the gear okay. But, still shows that it is in reverse on the dashboard. I can see that the gear is all the way forward should be in park. So this does not allow truck to start. Checked fuses #25 and #27 both look good not burned. What else can I do? Sadly lost my job don't have funds to take to mechanic. Any other tricks I can do. I read this is an issue on this vehicle.

SOURCE: gear got stuck in nuetral, and in park position in

It may be the gear selector switch on the tranny where the linkage bolts on its a odd shaped plastic peace you can see if its broke or loose.

SOURCE: my 1995 2500 chevy trans shifts good from forward to reverse but don't shift to any higher forward gears sat for a couple months before that no issues this truck has the 6.5 turbo

Thats not good !
I suggest that the truck be started and warmed up a while.
Then try to drive it around a bit in the yard or where ever.
If that doesnt work out the suspected clog, then I would roll under the truck and look to see if something hasn't eatten away at the wire harness for the trans.

The gear of my 2003 chevy trailblzer can not be shiftet to drive. Its stuck on park and the knob that has to be pressed before shifting is very hard to push. What might be the cause and what should i do.

There is an unlock button that is pushed by the brake pedal when you push it, if you look under the dash and push the brake with your hand, you will see the little black buttton that it pushes, you need to replace that switch.... because it really sounds like your gearshift isnt unlocking... hope this helps

Check in your fuse panel. The top first row and the first fuse. I took that fuse out and had the same problem. My gear shift button was stuck. I put the fuse back in and it worked.

If it is floor shift it has a soloind under the cover not to hard to remove, you have to memove the whole thing bolt in front cupholder and inside armrest storage. once it has removed there is a soloind in there that mounts on the shifter. this goes bad alot. Push the button on the silver soloind button this will release it into gear. Hope this helps. ( Usually he black soloind goes bad)

My 1998 Tracer is stuck in park. When I push on the brake, the button on the shifter will not push in.

Hello! It sounds as if your gear shift lock isn't working properly - it should release when you depress the brake pedal. You're not stuck, however. There is a small plastic piece to the side of the gear shift on the console - you can pry this piece up and off, revealing a hole underneath. Insert a screwdriver straight down and you will push on the manual gear shift release button - once you do that you will be able to move the gear shift. This can be caused by a few things - weak battery, or the release button is broken behind the brake pedal.

Hope this helps and good luck!
