Question about 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera
My olds acting up i put into drive or in reverse and it just sits there some times i can rev it up and it will start to move slowly and ma be with in a block it'll pick up speed got home last night could not go faster than 15 mph no it dont move
I would check the oil level and condition of the oil. The level should ve at the appropriate level on the dipstick, the color of the fluid is red, not brownish, milky or smell burnt.
There is also a TV (throttle valve) cable that connects to the throttle body and runs to the transmission. If the cable is disconnected or broken, not adjusted properly, the transmission will not function properly. So check the cable to make certain it is at least connected.
If the transmission has not been serviced in the past 6 years, it is overdue. You should do a complete oil exchange, which would include the torque converter and radiator cooler and pan filter replacement.
A clogged filter could cause the problem you are having. The oil itself really never wears out but gets dirty and the conditioners in the oil do break down. The fluid change will correct that problem.
Good luck, let me know.
