    same problem....
driver side window was working off and on....occassionall stuck closed or open or in between and would work if you try it a few times or hold the lever for an extra long time. Now of course it is stuck open and will not close.
please any suggestions would help....is it a motor issue, electrical, or are the gears getting jammed? any idea how much it might cost to fix or how long it takes.
    Thanks SO MUCH!

The switches in Subarus are made by Nissan believe it or not. They are not interchangeable. Anyway, I suspect you have a bad window switch. You can pickup the whole bank of swiches or replace just the one. Do a search on ebay for your part.
Has this car had body damage on the driver's door? You could have a cut wire inside the door.

Driver's side panel won't illuminate

most of the switches and instument panels in my 02 outback have tiny miniture lite bulbs incorporated into every switch including the driver side door window control if you remove the switch panel and turn it upside down youll notice very small round caps with a cross cut in each cap . use a small fat head tip screwdriver to turn the cap ,there you will find the bulb which will be black and burnt out.

What's your problem? MY WINDOW WON'T GO UP OR DOWN ON THE DRIVERS SIDE

You will have to find out if there is any voltage at that window switch. It may entail taking oof the door panel to get to the switch. I presume that all the windows can be opened from the driver door. Then the problem must be in that door.

How to replace power window switch on 2005 subaru, outback, driver side

The Haynes service manual (#89101) shows the window switch panel is only retained by tensioners that are part of the panel and that the method of removal is to carefully pry the entire panel out of its mounting hole. Once the panel is clear of its home, the switch appears to also be only pressed into the panel seat. I think you will find that the switch has 'quick disconnect' connectors that will pull off and plug onto the new switch.

Want to remove driver side door panel to gain access to power window motor

first remove the tweeter speker if equipped this comes off easily by gently prying from behind, then remove the small panel behind pull handle you"ll find a screw behind it\remove that, the next part is a little tricky the door grip needs to come off to achieve this place a small flat screwdriver at the top of the handle and pry forward the turn handle counterclockwise and this will release it from the clips you"ll then find 2 screws one at the top other at the bottom of door grip remove those and then gently pry from the bottom of the door panel to release the retaining clips thats it
