SOURCE: location of oxygen sensor

All of your oxygen senors are located in your exhaust system they are 4 of them on this vehicle. They are all screwed in to exhaust pipes with wire connections on them. All that's needed to replace them is an oxygen sensor socket and a ratchet this can be bought at any auto parts store. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA

Location of the engine oxygen sensor for a 2009 Buick lucerne

There are at least 3 oxygen sensors. There is one on each side of the exhaust system as the exhaust leaves the engine. These are the upstream sensors. The exhaust then goes to catalytic converters. If you have two, there is a sensor after each one. These are the downstream sensors. Before replacing a sensor, uou should determine if it is bad. Trouble codes indicating problems with the oxygen sensing circuits may have many causes other than a bad sensor. Also be advised that a special socket is needed to remove an oxygen sensor.

Can anyone tell me where the oxygen sensor is located on a 2012 chevrolet equinox 4cylinder

heated oxygen sensors(HO2S) are located in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe before the cat converter
oxygen sensors (O2S) are located after the cat converter
they are not the same items and do different jobs

Where is the 02 Oxygen Sensor before the cadalic converter on a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe

Usually these are located on the exhaust manifold or just below the exhaust manifold and you should be able to see it in the engine bay. On V6 engines there will be one sensor on each of the 2 exhaust banks.
You will probably need to remove the engine cover to see the sensors on your exhaust.

If someone told you to replace these because you got a particular fault code I would be wary. A decent scan tool and basic diagnostics can show if the 02 sensor is working or not. Some faults often blamed on an 02 sensor are not due to faulty sensors.

I have research around and found that the Bank 1 sensor 3 O2 sensor is post Cat. But when I got under there I dont see anything that could resemble a sensor. Where is it. Please help. Marc

try this
ALLDATA Editor's Note: Always verify #1 cylinder location prior to diagnosis and repair.

- Cylinder bank number one is the bank that contains number one cylinder.

Cylinder #1 on right side.

- The first oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 1 is numbered O2 Sensor 1/1.
- The second oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 1 is numbered O2 Sensor 1/2.
- A third oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 1 would be numbered O2 Sensor 1/3.
- The first oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 2 is numbered O2 Sensor 2/1.
- The second oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 2 is numbered O2 Sensor 1/1.

- If a V-6 or V-8 vehicle only uses one downstream Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) it is numbered O2 Sensor 1/2, even if it uses two upstream HO2S.

Oxygen sensors for 97 ford explorer location in engine....where are they at where i can change them

you will have at least two o2 sensors. one is know as your up stream or heated o2 sensor and it will be on the exhaust manifold the other one or two will be located on you catalytic converter under the truck. replaceing them is not very difficult. unplug the sensor and use the appropriate socket size to turn it out. the only difficult part may be the location of the down stream sensors which are on the catalytic converter. one might be non visible because it might be on the top of the converter which will pose an issue with trying to get a hand in there. you can find your sensor at any auto parts place, but be sure to ask for a direct O.E. replacement and not a general. the direct O.e. replacement will have a corresponding electrical connection so that you dont have to worry about slicing your used connection to the new sensor.

Oxygen sensors are always numbered like this:
Bank 1 sensor 1
Bank 2 sensor 1
Bank 1 sensor 2
Bank 2 sensor 2

Some manufacturers use a kind of shorthand that reads different, but means the same thing:
Sensor 1/1 or O2s 1/1
Sensor 2/1 or O2s 2/1
Sensor 1/2 or O2s 1/2
Sensor 2/2 or O2s 2/2

Bank 1 is always the side of the engine where cylinder number 1 is located and, of coarse, Bank 2 is the opposite side.
On a 4 cylinder engine, there is only 1 bank and it is always referred to as Bank 1.

Sensor 1 is always the upstream sensor (the one located BEFORE the catalytic converter)
Sensor 2 is always the downstream sensor (the one that is located AFTER the catalytic converter.

Hope helps (remember to rate this).

Change oxygen sensor

Under hood, center, front engine area, above exhaust pipe flange, mounted in exhaust manifold
Application:
Front
Under hood, center, rear engine area, above exhaust pipe flange, mounted in exhaust manifold
Application:
Rear

The oxygen sensor may be difficult to remove when the engine temperature is below 120°F (48°C). Excessive force may damage the threads in the exhaust manifold of exhaust pipe.
  1. Start the engine and let it warm up to 120°F (48°C), stop the engine and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Detach the electrical connector from the oxygen sensor.
  3. Using a special, oxygen sensor socket, remove the oxygen sensor from the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe.

NOTE A special anti-seize compound is used on the oxygen sensor threads. The compound consists of liquid graphite and glass beads. The graphite will burn away, but the glass beads will remain, making the sensor easier to remove. New or service sensors will already have the compound applied to the threads. If an oxygen sensor is removed from the engine and if for any reason, it is to be reinstalled, the threads must have this anti-seize compound applied before installation.
  1. Coat the threads of the oxygen sensor with anti-seize compound 5613695 or equivalent.
  2. Install the sensor and tighten it to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  3. Reattach the electrical connector to the sensor and the negative battery cable.

2001 Hyundai Santa Fe - Code P0421 Help!?

code p 0421 refers to warm up cat converter bank 1 --- efficiency below threshold ===causes ---cat converter---wiring ---HO2S (heated oxygen sensor )
there are not 4 oxygen sensor as you have been told but just 2 oxygen sensors located after each of the cat converters
The other 2 are heated oxygen sensor which are located in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe before the cat converters
heated oxygen sensors do a completely different job to the O2 sensors in that they report to the ECM, the combustion gas mixture so the the ECM can adjust the mixture for max performance
The oxygen sensors (O2) read what is left after the cat converters have done their job and report to the ECM so that it can fine tune the mix
IF you didn't replace the correct cat converter then that will make the code come back
If you just replaced the O2 sensor , well that doesn't even figure in the problem
