I was parked on the side of the road in my ford ranger ute for about 3 to 4 minutes with the clutch pedal to the floor i was on the phone and then i could smell the clutch burning. I took my foot off the...

The clutch might be a hydraulic system. When it's leaking oil the pedal sticks to the floor and has to be pulled back manually. Because it's designed to be fail safe, it still works but only for some time till all the oil has leaked out.

The burning smell might be clutch oil dripping on the exhaust - meaning the seal on the clutch servo is leaking oil.

There are repairkits for clutch servo's - usually it's suggested to replace the cylinder seal on the clutch pedal also.

The clutch peddle will not come up it stays on the floor

Check on the upper part of the pedel to see if the clip that connects the pedel to the clutch master cylinder has poped off If the clutch pedel is on the floor this is a likely sulition and relitively easy repair you just reattach the clip

The pedal of my clutch is reaching the floor is that a big problem?

sounds like it could become a problem...
What I would do if it were my vehicle that the clutch pedel was saging to the floor ... I would check the clutch master cylinder for fluid ...
Then I would fill it back up and bleed the slave cylinder ....

it could be either, look at your master cylinder in engine bay and look for leaks, if you find none look inside the car up under the clutch pedel, check for fluid seeping around where the pedel arm goes thru firewall and possibly under carpet
