Kangoo 1.4 petrol automatic.

I have a Kangoo 1.4 petrol automatic. The accelerator cable has broken. Are these fairly easy/inexpensive to repair/replace. Any help for this non mechanical lady please. Thanks.

I too have the same problem but with the 1.4 clio 2001 model. She is a very pleasant car to drive, but tends to lean towards the expensive side when it comes to repairs (especially if something breaks). The accelerator got stuck whilst i was driving and she was reving very high, i stoped to check, and found that the cable linked to the pedal had basically snapped off, there were only a few strands remaining.

Hi there,
I don't have prices for you but according to my experience i'ts not a too complicated job to do. You'll probably look at about 3/4 to 1 hr labour for this. To get a price on the cable, ring the nearest Renault dealer parts and ask them how much is the cable and by the way how much will be for the fitment as well.
Hope this helps and let me know how you get on.
Cheers,

My throttle is stuck wide open

P)robanly a bad accelerator cable. The strands of the cable, when age takes its toll, will fray and unravel, can get stuck inside the protective sheath and hang up. Happened to me three weeks ago. Called a junkyard, cost $20 for a good cable, and it worked fine. Fairly easy to replace. Take careful note of how you take it off at the throttle body and at the accelerator pedal and the cables routing from the firewall to the throttle body.
Good luck.

No reverse

In these particle transmissions, if you are experiencing no reverse on an automatic trans, it is time to either have it rebuilt or replaced. These are really easy and fairly inexpensive to do. If you would like instructions to do it yourself, let me know and I will get these to you.

No revs when depressing the accelerator

check the gas cable at the throttle body under the hood, it is possible the cable has either broken or become dis connected. remove the air cleaner and look into throttle body and find the rotating shaft that opens and closes the plate inside throttle body. 1) when you rotate does plate move? 2) is there cable attached to pulley? 3) when someone steps on pedal does the plate move? 1 not likely issue, 2 might be issue reattach cable to pulley, 3 pedal does not move pulley cable disconnected at pedal reconnect there or cable is broken replace cable. if non of these then throttle position sensor may be bad and check or replace

The battery has a bad draw and wont stay charged.

You'll want to check your cables, especially the negative as its the side of the battery that holds the charge. If you have access to a ohmmeter this is a pretty easy check.Disconnect the negative cable and place a lead on the battery end of the negative cable and the other to the engine block you should get a 0 ohm to maybe 1 or 2,any higher and the connections need to be checked for corrosion, this could be corrosion on the battery clamp or where the cable bolts to the motor if you measure I'd think 50 or more ohms the cable is bad and needs to be replaced, and it may be easier for you to replace both cables as they are fairly inexpensive.Hope this helps and have a good day!

Somthing broke on the accelerator of my 1990 jeep cherokee, 6 cyl. The gas pedal goes to the floor and the cable at either end can be pulled without affecting the other end, but the cables do not pull out....

Fairly easy to repair, Obviously the cable is broken. Just follow it back. it runs through the firewall from the pedal to the throttle body. if you have cruise control it may go there (I don't remember and am too lazy to go look at mine) Either way, get a new cable and put it in!!!
