Always best to get it checked at your local dealer they will check for error code but if everthing is working ok disconect the battery for 5 minutes this normaly will reset most lights that come on like engine managment lights if you do this but the light comes back on then i would go to the dealership as there is a problem some were and the car system is letting you know.

I have a 2003vw jetta the epc light is on and the will not come out of park nor the stop lights come on,I have already changed the brake switch and still won't work..

EPC light should have nothing to do with the shift interlock,(EPC is traction control) should be a small cap or plug on the console, near the shifter that has the interlock disengage button, usually done with a key, check shift interlock in the owners manual.

Epc light on car losses power

When these lights are on it is indicating a fault has occurred in the powertrain, the 1st thing you need to do is have the powertrain control module read for the fault codes that were stored when the computer turned on the warning lights.

2002 1.6L GOLF, EPC LIGHT ON, POWER LOSS An EPC light will appear on the dash randomly whilst driving at a casual pace. Once it is on there is a noticeable loss in power and it stays this way until the...

It sounds as if your vehicle may have severe water damage to the engine. The engine sensors on the golf are suseptable to water damage and can result in epc light that you are seeing on your dash, or so i was told by VW. I replaced all the sensors, alternator and the computer on my original engine, but this action didnt fix the problem. So i bit the bullet and replaced the engine, and haven't had a problem since. If you do the labor yourself it can be done as cheap as $4000. I hope this helps mate.

good luck

Roughly how much is the EPC light to fix

This is hard to say without knowing what needs repairing. the computer would have to be scaned to get codes then check the codes definition and test that part of the system.

Epc on

The EPC light is the Electronic pedal control. The mass air meter, brake switch, the throttle body, the gas pedal, wiring, and the computer all are tied to the EPC light. If you had a EPC or the engine light on then there is a fault. This can cause the computer to enter a limp mode or the improper signal is sent from the accelerator which manifests itself as poor performance. There have been some recalls on this so I would visit your local VW dealer.
