All three passanger tail lights went out on 2002 Avalon

All three lights went out on the passanger tail light assembly. I doubt it is the bulbs all going at once, so I suspect a fuse or wiring problem. Can any one tell me how to check this out?

I assume the three lights you refer to are stop, turn, and backup lights? I would look for a broken or disconected ground wire on the tail light assembly first, because the different lights are on different circuits (fuses) and the backup lights would both be out if it was a blown fuse.
If you do need to check fuses there are two boxes, one is under the hood and the other is inside the car on the drivers side, lower dash, between the wheel and the door. Sometimes in the kick panel or hidden behind a change compartment. Good luck, cb

Check the bulbs first they may be burnt out, once you confrim the bulbs are good turn the lights on and check for power at the green wire and the green/white wire. and check the white/black wire it is the ground wire.

One of the lights on my dashboard is indicating that I have a rear bulb out, but none of my lights are out, any other suggestions for another reason for the indicator light to be on?

Look in your owners manual, see how to replace tail light bulbs. If they are removed from the light assembly and changed from within the trunk, then open the trunk, turn on the lights and pull the bulbs out one by one. You may find that more than one bulb is used on each side for the tail light, and though it looks good from the outside, one could well be burnt out. Read the instructions closely, you may have to turn the light socket 30 degrees or so to pull it out of the asembly.

2002 GMC Yukon XL brake light replacement

Hello Weaver124!
Open the tailgate(s) completely and you'll find two phillips-head screws on the inside edge of the tail light assembly. Take out those two screws (keep one hand on the assembly when you remove the last screw) and the whole tail light assembly will come off of the vehicle. On the back side of the tail light assembly, twist and remove the light bulb housing for the blown bulb. The bulbs themselves on some models vary in the manner in which they are removed: (1) If the base on the bottom of the bulb itself is a *round* brass base, press down on the bulb then twist it to remove it, or (2) If the base on the bottom of the bulb itself is *flat* plastic, pull the bulb straight out of the assembly. To replace the bulb, simply reverse the order. Best wishes!

This morning a light posted on my dashboard showing the car with the tail lights emphasized. I checked the tail lights and they do not come on when the brakes are pressed with the lights turned off. What...

The types of bulbs used in tail light have two coils, one for brakes and one for running lights, so there should just be the one brake light bulb to replace in the brake light assembly

When I press the break only my passanger side tail light works. Is this a fuse problem?

Try replacing the passenger side tail light bulb.
Inside trunk, remove two black plastic nuts holding carpet liner in place on side where bulb is burnt out.
Pull back carpet, use a flat screwdriver to pop out the wiring. Remove three nuts using a small open-ended socket or pliers.
Pop out entire tail light assembly. Locate bulb to be replaced. Rotate 1/4 turn to remove from socket. Replace bulb and repeat in reverse order to reinstall.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck

How do i replace the tail light bulb?

to replace the GM tail light bulb, you will drop down the tail gate and you will notice 2 screws on the tail light assembly, you will remove those 2 screws with the proper screw driver, once you do that the whole tail light assembly will come off, then you will see onother 2 screws holding the light panel to the tail light assembly, or brackets holding the light panel to the tail light assembly remove either or and you will have access to the three bulbs on that light panel, replace the burnt one and follow the same intrunctions to put back.

How do I access the rear tail lite assembly so I can change the turn signal bulb

Look inside the trunk -- you may have to move the liner aside -- there are three plastic wing nuts holding in each tail light assembly. Remove the nuts and the entire assembly will come out. The light sockets come out with a quarter turn twist.

How do i change the bulb for my rear tail light?

Open up the trunk and pull back the "carpeting" around the inside of the trunk in the area of the tail light. You may have to remove some tabs and or plastic screws to do this. Once the "carpeting" is pulled back you can get to the three bolts holding the tail light to the body. After removing the screws, gently wiggle the tail light assembly from the body of the car and look for any hooks the may hold the tail light in place. They won't stop you from removing it, but they do hold onto it. They are mostly there for alinment when installing the tail light. The bulbs should be in twist off plugs.
