THERE IS A CABLE THAT GOES TO THE SIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION THAT TELLS THE SPEEDOMETER HOW FAST THE TRUCK IS GOING. INSIDE THIS CABLE IS A SMALL GEAR THAT IS MADE OF PLASTIC. SOMETIMES THIS GEAR GETS WORN OUT AND WILL NOT READ THE SPEED. I THINK THIS IS THE PROBLEM YOU ARE HAVING NOW. CHECK IT OUT AND LET ME KNOW. HOPE THIS HELPS. GOOD LUCK

I have a 97 S10 had a shop to pull the transmission and put a slave cylinder in now speedometer does not work thanks for any help

The speedometer probably gets a signal from the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) on the transmission. This unit is normally near the rear tailshaft housing on the transmission. Check that the connector is securely attached and that there is no damage to the wiring.

They will bolt up. You may want to get the wiring plugs off the 97 t case as they will be different from yours. Or use your old t case

Where is the odometer cable in my s10 chevy pickup? the odometer suddenly stopped working.

the odometer usually runs off the cable that operates the speedometer, if the speedometer is working there is a problem with the odometer, you may have to replace the speedometer to fix the problem.......hope this helps......cheers

I have a 97 s10 5 speed and when going up hills it gets very noisy and feels shaky? also when i accelerate the same thing happens. i also have a problem with the odometer and speedometer neither one works!...

with the noise and shaky problem the engine might be missing on one cylinder. For the speedometer check the cable if it has one or maybe a wire is unplugged or broken check by the rear of the transmission.
