If there is a current failure in the airbag system, you can't reset it. The light will stay on for as long as the fault exists. You can plug GM's Tech 2 scan tool in, clear the code, and the light will turn right back on if the fault is still present in the airbag system. The only way to turn the light off (besides putting black tape over it) is to read the diagnostic code, diagnose the problem, and fix it.

Considering that I've done that job five miles back in the woods with basic hand tools. It should not be too difficult. (yes, I carry a spare)
You may find it easier if you get a cheap ( manual like haynes$20) The book helps with lots of other stuff and can save you $ later too!
If you run into any problems just post back and I'll help you through it!
SOURCE: 99 gmc jimmy sle keyless remote and security issue
Hi: From my experience the security issue is easily solved because hitting the factory key FOB lock button is the only way to activate it, hitting door lock button will not activate it. When installing a remote starter no wires are cut usually, just spliced into which means... make sure that where wires were spliced they are taped. If you have the original factory key FOB use a quarter and pop apart, replace the battery, key FOB should have retained its factory setting if your lucky, if doesn't work go to internet search and find programming procedure. Hope this helps... please rate suggestion...ty
SOURCE: 1998 GMC Jimmy with "turn signal" clicking behind glove box
I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy SLT with same exact problem. I just determined exactly what it is today.
Here is what you should do:
1) Open glove box
2) Notice the u-shape mechanism that prevents the glove box from folding all the way down. (located near top left corner of OPEN glove box
3) Empty contents of glove box and then push up on U-shape and open glove box so that it hangs freely
4) Notice the wiring harness with a bolt in middle of it (located behind glove box)
5) To the right of the wiring harness is a small black box with a zip tie over it. This is the source of your problem. Just slide the zip tie to the right so that the box can then be pulled out.
This is your combination flasher for turn and hazard signals. My signals still worked while this annoying little thing kept clicking. The model # is GM11516051. You can find one on e-bay for at least 1/2 the price of the dealer's.
