Get under truck go to the back of the rear-end housing shoul be a plug u can take out and u can kinda see in you can add the gear oil in that same hole you can only add oil up to the bottom of hole then put plug back and go on to next project

How to put gear oil in..


The only place to put gear oil is in the "pumpkin". Otherwise called the rear-end.
To do so, I recommend driving the car backwards onto two ramps to raise the rear end up in the air, this also tilts the car forward.
Between the rear wheels, in the center of the axle, is a large metal container of gears and gear oil.
There should be a large hex-headed bolt less than half-way from the bottom to the top on the rear, facing your back bumper.
This is where the gear oil goes in, but after you take the bolt out, before you add any oil, stick your finger into the hole and try to feel the oil level.
If you can feel it, you don't need any more gear oil to be added.

Where do you check the gear oil in the rear?


The rear end gear box usually has fill plug about 1/3 of the way up the gear box housing. The gear oil is usually filled to the bottom side of the plug. In other words, if you were to try to add gear oil, you would stop when the oil starts to spill back out of the plug hole.

How does the distributor housing and gear get lubrication


Your distributor gear is oiled by runoff that drips onto the corresponding gear on the camshaft. by design, a small amount of oil is either drawn up the shaft or is introduced by a small oiling hole in the side of the housing if needed. The bushings in a distributor are often made from oilite which is bronze with a lubricant impregnated into it, or aluminum that has been chemically hardened to prevent wear.
Replacing distributor bushings used to be common but today, it's really difficult to find bushing sets so it's generally easier to just replace it with a rebuilt one.
If your engine is eating distributor gears, look into the hole where the distributor goes and check the cam gear. If that gear is damaged you may need a new cam. In that case I'd also check cam end play. If excessive you may need to replace a thrust plate or add a thrust button to limit movement. (depends on which engine you have)

you dont ---end of story it should never need changing on a modern vehicle ,unless you take the drive shafts out to do a clutch then you top it up through a filler plug at halfway level on the gearbox ,Dont make work .

Rear end is poping when i make left turns.


totally clean out your rear end,taking back cover off and spray with cleaner and air hose. reinstall with new gasket glue and add new oil, but put in 2 bottles of anti slip differential oil, then top with gear oil. make several figure 8 's til rear end fully distributes oil thru out rear end. if rear end is dirty you may have to repeat this action after5000 km. diff slip oil can be purchased at dealer

HELP! Gear Oil Leak


Both the front seal and the rear gasket are fairly easy fix, But don't let anybody over torque the seal, You can add more oil, and let it sling all over the place, your car will never rust, the filler plug looks like a bolt with a square hole in it, the end of ratchet or breaker bar will fit it, 1/2 inch, you can fill it up there. Hope this helps.

There is a clanging noise when i put it in gear and can hear it while driving is it the rear end or universal joint


Check rear-end fluid level and play in rear pinion gear.
Check universal joints for play. If play is in pinion gear change rear end fluid and add a full bottle of LUCAS oil stabilizer, will quiet rear end noise.

Be sure to confirm the type of gear oil required by your vehicle's rear differential. Some differentials require special additives to ensure correct operation of the limited-slip components. Failing to add the correct amount of additive and/or use the correct type of gear oil can lead to premature wear, poor functioning, and potential break-down.
