To expand on the problem. They came on overnight while the vehicle was parked. They do not respond to the swich. They turn off when the vehicle is running and the headlights are on and will not turn on with the switch as long as the headlights are on. With the vehicle running and the headlights off they are on and remain on regardless of position on the foglamp switch and remain on when the vehicle is shut off. To keep my battery from being drained I unplugged the fog light bulbs and have been using the vehicle in this manner. Any help in a solution to this problem would be greatly appreciated. To expand on the problem. They came on overnight while the vehicle was parked. They do not respond to the swich. Is the Service Vehicle Soon light illuminated on the dash? If so, the BCM has detected an electrical issue in the wiring circuit to the fog lights. If the SVS light is not illuminated, it is most likely the fog light relay is stuck in the on position. Open the hood and find the fuse center located on the driver side at the front shock tower. Remove the cover, look at the schematic on the underside of the cover and identify the fog lamp relay. Remove the relay and see if the lights go out. If the lights go out, you may need to replace the relay. You can substitute a like relay in the fuse center to verify relay is bad before buying a new one.
Good luck.
The fog lamps are computer controlled .the body control module (BCM) will energize the fog lamp relay control circuit. The BCM receives the park lamp ON signal from the interior park lamps supply voltage signal circuit.
DTC B2527 Front Fog Lamps Circuit Low
The body control module (BCM) monitors the front fog lamp switch signal circuit in order to determine when the fog lamp relay is to be energized. When the BCM senses that the front fog lamp switch signal circuit is grounded momentarily by pressing the fog lamp switch, the BCM energizes the fog lamp relay by grounding the fog lamp relay control circuit.
Your best bet , take it to the dealer . Could need BCM replaced , would need to do testing using the Tech 2 scan tool . A new BCM has to be programmed .
Body Control Module (BCM) Replacement
If the body control module (BCM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed in the following order:
BCM Reprogramming--Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems.
Important: This procedure has to be performed only for vehicles equipped with the Passlock™ System.
Theft Learn--Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components in Theft Deterrent. A new BCM will learn the Passlock™ information automatically, but the powertrain control module (PCM) must still learn the theft information from the BCM.
First check to make sure all the harness plugs on the PCM are pushed in and tight. It happened to me.
Then check your grounds.
And you need to get that multi switch replaced to fix that fog light problem. Just remember to take the relay off of the old one and replace it on the new one.
Fog lights are connected to pin 13,14.
Fog light switch is "B". Because the current is many Amps, contact surfaces are heating up.
After that the contact opening "C" is melting (made of plastic) so the fog light stays "ON".
1st most newer car cars have a timer delay that helps light the area you are in for a couple of seconds. You may have had the knob turned all the way up on the turn signal switch. The same thing will happened if this switch is turned all the way up, the interrior light will stay on. Turn the lights on with the switch and see if the fog lights come on, do this without the car running.Trun the lights off,see if the fog lights stay on then go out after a while.if so you have a delay on the fog lights or relay. You may need to replace the relay only. Part $ 15 trace fog light wiring to relay usually under hood away from water sources.......runjoe
Your car has rear fog lights. The rear light that you see come on with your headlights is your rear fog light. The light in your dash is the rear fog light indicator. To turn off your rear fog lghts push your headlight switch in half way. To turn off your front fog lights push in all of the way.
hi disconnect your fog light switch if this doesn,t knock them off you need to find the fog lights relay and replace it as the fog light circuit is shorted best of luck yates210456
