Well,I decided the serpentine belt needed to be changed, easy enough right.....wrong.I am out of slots on the power steering tensioning/jacking bolt assembly and this belt is not going to go on.You think I should just swap out and get a belt a couple inches longer?Ive got plenty room to tighten even after the belt breaks in good.

Did the auto parts give you thr wrong belt?you should have a diegram on top of the raditer or on the hood. some time it seam like you have the young belt if you do not have it going the right way. try you best to stay with the right belt ok . good luck

How do i replace serpentine belt on 1997 jeep wrangler

Adjustment is made by loosening the power steering pump. There is a transverse long bolt (jack bolt) right under the pump that is used for adjustment.

What do you loosen to remove serpentine belt from 1991 jeep wrangler with ac and power steering. thanks 4 cyl. 2.5

There is an idler pulley close to the power steering. Loosen the bolt that goes through the front of the idler pulley first. Then you will see the head of a bolt looking up at you. Turn the bolt clockwise to tighten and counterclockwise to loosen. The pulley is attached to the threaded bolt and it moves the pulley up or down as needed to adjust the belt tension. When the belt is replaced turn the bolt until the belt is tight. Remember to check the belt again after a few hundred miles. A new belt will stretch and loosen.

95 jeep wrangler overheating and hissing sound

Had the same problem on my 95 Wrangler within the last month. I was told that the radiators on Wranglers tend to wear out, and don't push fluid through after 10 years or so. I decided to 'fix' everything at the same time. I replaced the radiator, the radiator hoses, and the water pump. That stopped the leaking, and fixed the problem. Water pumps run less than $50, and is actually something you can do yourself. I'm not mechanically inclined, but I needed to save the labor charges from the mechanic, so I took at shot. I had no problems. It does help to have an extra pair of hands to replace the serpentine belt.
