Volvo XC70 2001, mirror not darkening problem

Volvo XC70 2001, mirror problem - at night only about 2/3 of the mirror darkens, I wonder if there is a fix for that. I am an electronics tech, and can take it apart if needed.
Anybody has any information about this problem?
Please also email me directly at eldad@hvc.rr.com

Thanks for any help,

The mirror glass has to be removed without breaking it then remounted. This problem occurs on other vehicles in addition to Volvo.

In the door hinge of the volvo . There is a black block connector. U flick that up with a small screwdriver to disconnect the mirror electrics. It is a swine to fix parts of the mirror as you can break the lugs on the mirror covers. You will need to undo the covers inside and the door panel if you are replacing the mirror as a whole unit . This will allow you to trace the wires back through to reconnect it at the door hinge.

Mirrors won't Work

the mirrors most likely need to be replaced, rarely do the switches go bad. try replacing your key fob battery. do the doorlocks work from the master switch? and make sure the auto dim mirror is on. the little green light is hard to see sometimes.

Check your harness on the driverside, between the door and the body frame. The harness sometimes get spliced by the hole in the frame. This would cause the electronics wires to touch (sometimes work/ sometimes don't). GL.
