Question about 1998 Ford Explorer

Removed all the lug nuts to change a flat tire and wheel will not come off. Our explorer is a 2005 and a four wheel drive.

The wheel is corroded to the hub/brake rotor face, u will have to get a can of WD 40 and soak it overnight and just keep working it until it free's up, no other way to do it that I know of.

You need a BIG Hammer! It is oxidized to the steel!

Put one lugnut on with a few threads... then hit the back of the tire - IT should pop off!

the rim is likely rusted to the hub use a penetrating spray such as pb blaster or aerokroil at the wheel studs. also you can try this put the lug nuts on loosely and drive the vehicle back and forth this sometimes will loosen the wheel. you can also smack the tire from the inside with a hammer be careful not to hit the rim. hope this helps

Aluminum rim is corroded to the hub.Put one nut on loosely and hit back of tire with a hammer and it will usually come loose. I normally give tire several kicks at top and bottom to loosen.

Having difficulty changing front drivers side tire on the Jaguar x type 2003. the tire is flat and we cannot seem to remove the tire


If all the lug nuts are removed and the tire will not come off it is frozen onto the hub. This is really common with aluminum wheels. If you can safely support the vehicle so that it will not fall off the jack you can try kicking the backside of the tire. This will work most of the time.

If that doesn't work put the lug nuts on till there just snug and then loosen them 3 or 4 turns. remove the jack and drive the vehicle back and forth until the wheel falls off the hub.

Everyone I work with as well as myself, have at least a four pound plastic deadblow hammer just to remove the wheels that this happens to.

Changing rear flat tire


Find jack follow instructions to raise vehicle after parking brake is on. Remove lug nuts and take wheel with flat tire off. Replace with the spare tire and tighten lug nuts. lower vehicle, put jack , lug wrench and flat tire in vehicle. Drive to a tire repair store and fix the problem.

When changing the front tire does the center nut need to be removed along with the lug nuts? if so, how?


Only the four wheel lug nuts need to be removed to get the rim and tire off the car. That large center nut holds in the front axle shaft.

TIRE STOWAGE Tire, Spare, Removal, Aerostar If the Aerostar is a standard length vehicle the spare tire is mounted inside to a carrier at the left rear quarter panel. To remove the spare tire, remove the wing nut and plate. A flat tire can be temporarily stowed in the same location.



If the Aerostar is the bus with a standard length body or extended length (all models), the temporary spare tire is stowed at the rear of the vehicle under the body. The Aerostar standard length E-4WD bus spare tire is mounted on the floor.
  1. Insert lug nut wrench into the actuator hole and turn counterclockwise until the cable extends to allow the spare tire to be pulled rearward from under the vehicle.
  1. Slide spare tire to the rear and remove the retainer from the wheel.
  1. To stow cable/retainer with spare tire removed, insert cable fitting into carrier rear wall slot, place wheel retainer against the carrier, and turn lug nut wrench clockwise until slack is removed.

Cant get front tires off


turn lug nuts counter clockwise while the tires are still on the ground then raise the front end and take off loose lug nuts and wheels. reverse steps when done

Unable to remove the tires.


Once All of the lug nuts are removed from the studs, if the vehicle is jacked up off of the ground, clearance under the tire, pull the tire off, it will be pretty heavy.

Tire Change on 2006 Ford Explorer


Kick the tire. Not only will it make him feel better, but it should come off. The center of the wheel is probably a tight fit where it fits on the 'hub' (where the brakes and wheel bearings are located. Kick the tire near the outer edge, continue all around 'til it comes off.
