Question about Mercury Mariner
The keyless entry has been working intermittently the past few days. It stopped working altogether today and the vehicle wouldn't start (anti-theft system engaged). I replaced the battery in the key system, but no change in the problem. I also disconnected/reconnected the battery which didn't help either. I don't have a spare key.
Sounds like the transmitter in the key head is defective or it lost programming, try these programing steps, if that doesn't do it u need another key made.
Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the 8th time ending in RUN. Door
locks will cycle to confirm programming mode.
2. Within 20 seconds press any button on first keyless remote. Door locks will cycle to confirm
3. Within 20 seconds, press any button on second keyless remote. Door locks will cycle again to
4. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.
