Question about 2000 Nissan Frontier

1 Answer

My service Engine light is on and I have bad vibration starting at around 45MPH. I was told at Auto Zone when they check the codes plugs and wires which I have relaced and today I change Chrankshaft pulley thinking this could be the vibration, but the engine still has a supper to it and feels like it might be running on 3 cylinders.

You might have some component seizing up on you. The compressors are not great in these machines. Check to make sure that everything that is driven is not binding. You could also have a injector cloged. Chance's are you would never notice it till the motor was under load.

Go to an auto parts store and have them scan for a code. That should give you an indication of what is wrong with it.

Why is the check engine light on and idle problem?

Could have a bad injector or PSM problem. When idle is bad start pulling each spark plug one at a time , if no change then thats the bad cylinder. Could be a spark plug too. Buy a spark plug wire puller to do this job (plastic only and only use one hand)

Check engine light is on and steady when you put it in drive and start up the road it starts flashing, the engine at idle is rough and sounds like there is an exhaust leak?

Take the vehicle to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer for any fault codes that it has stored. Most parts stores will do the scan for free and getting the codes will end speculation as to the cause. The check engine light indicates that the computer has noted a fault in one of the vehicle's systems. What you describe could be caused by a faulty idle air control valve or it could even be more than one factor, but getting the codes should help narrow down the cause of the problem. Sure hope this helped and best wishes.

Error Code Cylinder 7 Mis-Firing & Vibration When Going Up Hill

yes i would change the plug wires , you can take a spray bottal with water and spray that wire, and if it starts to run real bad then it is shorting out, you may also have a injector going bad you can test this buy puting a ohms meter on it and ck the ohms it should read the same or close to the same as the other if not it will need replaced

I'm having the same problem with my 90 2.3L Ranger. I replaced the EGR Valve back in August and the truck ran fine (but the gas mileage was bad) until late December . I knew it needed an O2 Sensor back in August but didn't replace it until last Saturday along with the Idle Air Control Valve, Plugs and Wires. The truck ran fine for a couple minutes then started running like a VW bug! My code reader is now throwing out an EGR failure code, so I guess i'll take the 4 month EGR back and get a new one, and see what that does!_549.jpg

I have a car in the shop right now same thing - it is being caused by a misfire. Need a real technition to diagnose the problem (auto zone - advance auto can't diagnose the problem - only read the code)
mine was caused by a failing fuel injector. good luck
