Question about 1998 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

Air conditioner The air conditioner had been working fine until today. No cold air now and the power window not working don't help Mama at all. The car just has about 80,000 mi. and is very dependable. With the AC set to max the comp. clutch kicks in and out every few sec. but no cold air. Any suggestions is appreciated.

I the clutch kicks in every now and then, then the compressor is fine, it just just needs to be serviced and recharged. Don't let them try to talk you into anything they try to get you to buy a new dryer....that's a scam...just have new A/C oil flushed and replaced and then have it recharged. The window problem may be a fuse or it may be a bad window switch or even worse a bad motor in the door of that window.

Air conditioner was blowing out cold air fine until my battery went dead,,once it was turned back on the ar only blows out hot

The A/C compressor only works when the engine is running.jiggle the wire on the compressor to make sure it's not loose or broken. The compressor clutch has to engaged for it to pump. There's about a 30 amp A/C fuse in your fuse box (under hood). Check it, if there's no power to the compressor.

Not exactly.
The compressor can run until it begins to freeze up depending on the system, or until pressure readings get too high or too low.
Most cars today are designed to run the compressor as long as the switch is engaged and just add hot air from the heater to adjust cabin temp. There is a sensor in the evap to prevent the system from freezing up.
As long as it is warm outside and the system is not freezing up then yes the compressor will run constantly.

2003 jeep grand cherokee heater problem

Jeep Grand Cherokee is notorious for broken blend-air doors. This is the door inside the A/C-heater housing that switches the air from hot to cold. You must remove the dash to repair it.

1999 ford expedition. smells like antifreeze in the cab, worse when I turn on air conditioner ?? I saw a leak today at the firewall. I drove it about 5 miles stopped the car and it hasnt leaked...

This is likely the heater core leaking. Once it turns cold you will have foggy windows too.

When the heat is turned off the antifreeze stops flowing through the heater core, once it was all gone the leak would have stopped until the next time you need heat.

My AC worked great until last year and then after a power steering hose leak was discovered, the ac until stopped blowing cold air. I took it and paid 75.00 to have it recharged with coolant and it worked...

My air conditioner started blowing hot air last summer. I put coolant in it and didn't run it until the beginning of summer this year (2011). All of a sudden it started working again. Sometimes it blows hot but if I keep it running full blast the coolness comes back. I don't know why this happened.

My 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Limited AC will not work while car is stopped but when driving works fine. What could this be?

not blowing air of or not cooling ??
if the second then most of the cars made for Europe are equipped with a( thermostat ) but don`t confuse it with air conditioner thermostat or thing is working like valve that stops water circulating in cold starts so the water will only circulate around the engine block not through the radiator and of coarse it helps heat up your car`s engine faster but the problem comes when that valve got old (by the way most of those valves working as a wax capsule when the water heats to some amount the wax molten so it opens the way for water to circulate through the radiator ) what happens is simply the wax looses some of its function and molten in higher temp . so it block the water again until it heats up to molt the wax my advice : get off that part and just don`t replace it if you found it pricey for you your car still working but will needs more time to warm up i hope i was useful for u sir .

I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500. The air conditioner blows just warm air. The system was working when engine was shut off but did not work properly upon restart today. The AC/Max A/C switch seems to work...

If the compressor is outputting cold freon maybe the vent in the dash is not opening to allow the air to flow thru the condenser. Try operating the heat/cool switch and the recirculting air control in an effort to get it to open the damper.
