Cooling fan dosent come on when temperture rises(1996 pontiac bonneville se) cooling fan relay where is it located..

The cooling fan(s) are turned on by the PCM in response to input from the engine coolant temperature sensor. If power is "going to" the fans, you would read 12 volts at the LT BLU wire connection to the motors and the two fuses, the high- and low-speed relays, and the coolant temperature sensor could be assumed to be OK. So what's left? The fan motors?

that could be a relay switch,look under the hood for a rectangled shape black box the relays should be located in that box

Hi there are relays for the fans, one for low and one for high cool. They are right below the fuses under the hood infront of the passenger.

Hi, check.........I need to know which fuse runs the cooling... on this forum thread. Its not a fuse if the fan turns but could be fan relay. Unplug the coolant temp sensor lovated just below the thermostat houing and see if the fans come on. If they do, it might be the coolant sensor that is bad.

Hey i have a 96 Bonneville SE :) I had the same problem....., First off .

Unplug you're fans.. Take some wires, ( i used speaker wire. ) Have someone help you, :) connect it to you're fan and then to the battery one to ground one to power. If you're fan doesn't turn on then you're motor in the fan is dead.

2nd. Check you're relays, Easy way to do this is switch them around one by one... They can't all be bad :P and if it turns on.. then you have a bad relay:P

3rd. Does you're Temp gauge work? There are a few sensors That could need to be replaced.

Check the relay for the fan. switch it out with another try this then write back.

yes there are fuses but there will be other instruments running off the same fuse! If everthing else seems to be fine than i would go directly to the blower located on the fire wall and change it!
