Question about 1995 Ford Thunderbird

1 Answer

I have an oil leak in my 95 thunderbird v8, not the oil pump as far as I can tell, new oil filter, dont think its the sending unit, need a copy of a diagram that shows where all hard lines for oil are located where they hook to what, cause its not coming from the valve cover, but it is pouring out. i am assuming I have a cracked line somewhere but cannot see to find it.

its definitely oil. just backed it up awhile ago to set it on flat ground and put it up on jack stands so i could better see what is going on, still cant see anything. I went into a spinout in this car the other day right after getting new tires on the front end. Ended up to my hubs in mud and had to be towed out. The guy that hooked up the chain to my car didnt put it around the axel,. but to my radiator and ripped that and the steel that holds the radiator and really screwed them both up. I had to have the car towed home (round 100 miles) on a trailer. It wasnt leaking oiil then, however when i unloaded it off the trailer, drove it down my driveway and parked it, it still wasnt leaking oil. We had to straighten out the steel bottom piece that holds the radiator in using a comealong attached to the back axel. but didnt interefere with anything that should have been leaking oil. didnt leak while sitting still, but when i put it into gear to back out, there it went, POURING out. wondering if the seal on the filter might have busted loose?? got some brake cleaner to spray and clean up the oil mess to try to see where its coming from, and i still cant tell. From what i can tell the oil pump is at the front of the engine, the oil filter is on the side next to the oil sending unit, but the oil pan and its gasket half of it is obscured where i cant reach it. It only starts leaking when i start the engine if that says anything at all.

it is OIL, I know the difference between the two. none of the tranny lines were messed up. it looks like the leak is above the sending unit and further back but I cant tell where, this is why I was asking for a diagram of where the oil hard lines are on the engine. Cant find one anywhere. Ive wracked my brain, thought perhaps it might have been the oil puimp but thats an external on that year at the FRONT of the engine, (ya gotta pull the mainfold, and the timing chains to get to the thang.) but it sets too low and in the wrong place for the oil to be coming from there. I dont know if its the sending unit or not, it doesnt look like its leaking. Wondering if the filters seal might have broken,, and why would it only leak when the engine is running?? It is definitely oil, clean oil at that.

is there supposed to be a gasket that goes between the harness that holds the oil filter and the block??

That has to be transmission fluid is the fluid that is leaking red ?
coming from a tranny cooling line to the radiator.
you motor oil is in your block and held in your oil pan. no where it can leak at that rate except thru the oil sending unit is gone ( missing )

I have two sending units on the housing for the oil filter and the top sending unit started leaking real bad. This is on my 1987 S-10 Blazer 4X4 with a 2.8 V-6

Well, first off would be to replace the faulty sending unit so that the oil pressure will stabilize. Second, if I'm reading this correctly that you have no oil in the oil filter at all? If not, your oil pump could be quitting or it did quit. It's recommended not to start the truck until it can be checked for oil pump operation. Have the valves been chattering badly? The only 3 things that would prevent oil from getting to the oil filter are a blocked passage, a failed oil pump or no oil in the motor at all. When the oil guage has that fluctuation is when the pump is going out or again the engine has no oil or a leak so massive that the guage can't hold a stable reading. Good luck

Oil leak 2000 alero, just replaced plug, not it, leaked out all the oil after I drove it 20 miles, please help, could it be a gasket or what

Check the oil filter. The old gasket might be stuck on the engine (two gaskets stuck together), or the new gasket might be defective, misaligned or missing.

Im getting low oil pressure reading on my 95 cadillac deville.. what should I be looking to replace?

always start at the least expensive item. ths would be the oil filter. if its a double wall one, switch to a single. if this doesnt work, then test the oil sending unit. alot of the older caddys do this, and as long as you dont hear lifters tapping,i wouldnt sweat it.

Ok so i was driving and the car just died out of the blue so i go to start and it wont turn over i tested the relays and the fuel pump fuse and their ok i think but i still dont hear the pump PRIME ,...

The sending unit should be down on the side of the block close to the oil filter. It could be it or the relay that your jumping from. Had this problem several times. Good luck, dont forget to rate.
