Question about 1996 Chevrolet Blazer

96 blazer not getting fuel!

I put in a new battery, I have switched all three relays in the glove box around and made sure they worked by honking the horn, I have taken off the inline fuel filter at the rail and tried to start the engine with no fuel coming out of the fuel line. Is there any thing else I should check or am I doomed to buying a new fuel pump and dropping the fuel tank? Any help would be great! Thank you!!

first the relay you want... is in the engine compartment fuse box near the battery. in there you will find the fuel pump relay. also turn on the key and go to the rear of the vehicle. are you able to hear the fuel pump ?

Sounds like the gas tank is coming down, if you have no pressure than the pump has no output. If you hear the whurring sound and then it stops, check the pressure. If no pressure the pump is bad. It comes as one assembly with sending unit and inside screen filter.

No power to fuel pump

Hi Sylvia,

If you're going to be maintaining this vehicle, you should consider joining a group of people with the same vehicle. There, you can ask questions and get replies from many different people that may have had the same problem before. One such forum is linked below. I found a user in the "blazer forum" ( talking about his issues with the fuel pump in his '96 Blazer:

"..the fuel pump FUSE is the ECM BATT fuse which is #9 in the fuse box on the driver side (accessible when driver door is open). The fuel pump RELAY is in the glove box (there are 3) and it is the one on the left, closest to the driver side. The relay on the right, closest to the passenger door, is for the horn."

Which of the 3 relays located in the glove box is the starter relay, it is a 1997 chevy 4x4 blazer

The relay closest to the driver's side is the fuel pump relay. The middle relay is the horn relay. All three relays are exactly the same. So, you can switch two of them to see if they both work or not.

I replaced my fuel pump on my 96 jimmy but i cant get the pump to work. it came with a new wireing plug but apears as the factory plug works fine. i all so moved the relays in the glove box around that did...

there should be a fuel pump relay under the hood I think most gm vehicles do checkto make sure ther is power to the relay you may need another person to help turn the ignition on and the will be power for a few seconds to one of the 4 terminals that the relay plugs into

Need to know location 96 4.3 blazer relay box under hood. i dont know where it is or what it looks like. thankyou kathy.

The only relay box I know of is in your glove compartment. Just went through changing a fuel pump in my 96 and finally located it in there. Dealer told me it was under the hood. Little black cover pops off and there are 3 relay's inside.

1996 Chevy Blazer...where is the fuel pump reset button located?

There is no reset button on the Blazer or any GM cars for the fuel pump. The fuel pump fuse is the same as the ECM fuse at the end of the dash on the drivers side. The relay in in the glove box behind the rely cover at the back of the glove box and i think it's the middle relay out of the three that is the fuel pump relay.

Most likely that's it's going to be a bad fuel pump. The pump is reted to only be good up to 150,000 miles and anything longer then that is borrowed time.

Thank you for using fixya and good luck.

Air Conditioner works intermittently

It could be your low pressure cycle switch is going bad. Check the connection to the switch and it's is located on the A/C Accumulator. The other thing to check is the A/C relay and that is located in the glove box. There is a panel in the glove box that say's relay, there is three relays in there and one of the out side relay's out of the three is the A/C. can not remember which one it is. The middle relay is the fuel pump and the other one is the third break light. Switch the two out side relays and see if your A/C get's better. the other thing too is if the R134a is just a little low, and needs to be topped off. Good luck and hope this helps. if your going to try to recharge the A/C system your self, keep in mind not to over charge.

Like Kristisamp Said check the Fuel pump relays, they are little black box shaped fuses in the glove box, there are 3 of them, I think there may be a cover over them so you can see it......
Take the cover off and there you go......
I have a 96 blazer 2 door that had the same problem, I repalced thes relays and Bam!!! fired right up........
