Question about 2007 Ford Fusion I4 SEL Sedan

1 Answer

Ford Fusion Audiophile system has no sound

I have a 2007 Fusion with an audiophile system. I removed a code from the PCM a month ago and since then there is no volume control on the radio--it's silent. The head works and displays the stations/cd/aux etc, but no sound. Fuses 12, 18, & 22 are good (I ck'd all the fuses and all are good) but it appears power goes through a Smart Junction Box which I understand is programmable. Could I have dumped the program when I unstrapped the battery? That doesn't seem right but that's when the problem began.

Pontiac grand prix 2007 car shutting off, with Start disabled throttle control module.

It doesn't say module , Starting Disabled Due To Electronic Throttle Control !
The throttle actuator control (TAC) system delivers improved throttle response and greater reliability and eliminates the need for mechanical cable. The TAC system performs the following functions:
• Accelerator pedal position (APP) sensing
• Throttle positioning to meet driver and engine demands
• Throttle position sensing
• Internal diagnostics
• Cruise control functions
• Manage TAC electrical power consumption
The TAC system includes the following components:
• The APP sensors
• The throttle body assembly
• The powertrain control module (PCM)
Normal Mode
During the operation of the throttle actuator control (TAC) system, several modes or functions are considered normal. The following modes may be entered during normal operation:
• Minimum pedal value--At key-up, the powertrain control module (PCM) updates the learned minimum pedal value.
• Minimum throttle position (TP) values--At key-up, the PCM updates the learned minimum throttle position value. In order to learn the minimum throttle position value, the throttle blade is moved to the closed position.
• Ice break mode--If the throttle is not able to reach a predetermined minimum throttle position, the ice break mode is entered. During the ice break mode, the PCM commands the maximum pulse width several times to the throttle actuator motor in the closing direction.
• Battery saver mode--After a predetermined time without engine RPM, the PCM commands the battery saver mode. During the battery saver mode, the TAC module removes the voltage from the motor control circuits, which removes the current draw used to maintain the idle position and allows the throttle to return to the spring loaded default position.
Reduced Engine Power Mode
When the PCM detects a condition with the TAC system, the PCM may enter a reduced engine power mode. Reduced engine power may cause one or more of the following conditions:
• Acceleration limiting--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however the vehicle acceleration is limited.
• Limited throttle mode--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control however the maximum throttle opening is limited.
• Throttle default mode--The PCM will turn off the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.
• Forced idle mode--The PCM will perform the following actions:
- Limit engine speed to idle by positioning the throttle, or by controlling the fuel and spark if the throttle is turned off.
- Ignore the accelerator pedal input.
• Engine shutdown mode--The PCM will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.

Do the diagnostics on the fault code first. You have the Ford emissions system Troubleshooting repair manual correct? If not try eBay for that and a wiring diagram booklet called the Ford Vacuum and Electrical Troubleshooting guide.

2007 ford taurus condensor fan not coming on with ac

Fan Control The PCM monitors certain parameters (such as engine coolant temperature, vehicle speed, A/C on/off status, A/C pressure) to determine engine cooling fan needs.
For variable speed electric fan(s):
The PCM controls the fan speed and operation using a duty cycle output on the fan control variable (FCV) circuit. The fan controller (located at or integral to the engine cooling fan assembly) receives the FCV command and operates the cooling fan at the speed requested (by varying the power applied to the fan motor).

For relay controlled fans:
The PCM controls the fan operation through the fan control (FC) (single speed fan applications), low fan control (LFC), medium fan control (MFC), and/or high fan control (HFC) outputs. Some applications will have the xFC circuit wired to 2 separate relays.
For 3-speed fans, although the PCM output circuits are called low, medium, and high fan control (FC), cooling fan speed is controlled by a combination of these outputs. Refer to the following table.
If you don't understand these thing's listed above your best bet is to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop . Have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes !

COULD THE GAS PEDAL CABLE CAUSE THIS CODED PO507 to be high

Extracted from Engine-Codes.com

Code P0507

Possible causes

- Dirty throttle body

- Electric throttle control actuator misadjusted or damaged

- Faulty Electric throttle control actuator

- Intake air leak

- Poor electrical connection to the Intake Air Control (IAC) valve

help.jpg What does this mean?

Tech notes

If there are no intake leaks, clean throttle body, adjust engine idle and erase engine code. If the code comes back you may have to replaced the Electric Throttle Control Actuator (Motor) to repair the problem.

There is a factory service bulletin for the following Chevrolet models:

2006-2008 Chevrolet Trail Blazer

2007-2008 Chevrolet Avalanche

2007-2008 Chevrolet Express

2007-2008 Chevrolet Silverado

2007-2008 Chevrolet Suburban

2007-2008 Chevrolet Tahoe

Chevrolet Factory Service Bulletin OBDII Code P0507

What does this mean?

When is the code detected?

Thi P0507 code sets when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects an engine speed outside of the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve range of control.

Possible symptoms

- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

- Engine hard to start

- Rough or erratic idle speed

P0507 Chevrolet Description

The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controlled stepper motor located on the throttle body. The stepper motor drives a valve pintle which protrudes into a passage that bypasses the throttle plates. The PCM commands the IAC valve pintle to extend to decrease the idle speed. The bypass air flow is reduced and the idle speed decreases as the pintle approaches its seat. The PCM retracts the IAC valve pintle away from its seat to increase the idle speed. The retracting of the IAC valve pintle allows more air to bypass the throttle plates. One of the PCMs uses for the IAC system is to maintain a desired idle speed. This DTC sets when the PCM detects an engine speed outside of the IAC\'s range of control.

There will be a code to reset the radio in your instruction manual. Find the code then remove the + terminal on the battery for a minute or two then refit it . follow the instructions in the manual to install the code .

If it has the Audiophile system, you have top mounted subs with a dedicated amp by the back glass. You can easily remove the sub covers and see if they are working. If not I would then look at the sub amp.

Where is the ecm located

why ask this. leave it alone. mess it up and its very expensive error and most never fail. 85% exchanges are good. sad to see.

post Scan codes, DTC; errors found?
SCAN it. did you, with a REAL scan too, if not?, why not?

but if just curious, why not just read the FSM (buy one)
or login to alldata.com and look.
its there and can very by engine size ,
2.3L
but what trans, the PCM is different by A/T or M/T
PCm means ECU + TCM = PCM.
see? the module with the most connector is the PCM.
easy huh< easy to find in most cars, and newer cars start in the engine bay, easy look , all exposed, like 1min work that.

here is the FSM quote.
  1. Remove the battery tray:
    • Disconnect the negative, then the positive battery cables.
    • Unfasten the retainers, then remove any necessary battery hold-down clamps.
    • Remove the battery.
    • Remove the 3 battery cable harness locators from the battery tray.
    • Remove the battery tray bolt and nut.
    • Remove the battery tray.
  2. Disconnect the 2 Powertrain Control Module (PCM) electrical connectors.
  3. Remove the 4 bolts and the PCM.
do not disconnect it.
or lose data.
do not.!@!!
nor mess with it , with battery connected.
nor touch pins with hands, for fun, (ESD damage)
nor hot wire it or any of its inputs or outputs.

PCM 101, end.

Why would USB port and radio die after jumping my car

Check fuses #12, #17, #18 and #22 under the dash

I figured out that its a simple fix and posting it so that if anyone have this problem, can fix it by self and dont spend money at the dealer. Just unplug all the cables from the back of the player, wait for few minutes and then replug them. It worked for me. The audiophile started working fine without asking for any code. Big relief!
