I'd like to grease the front and rear axles but can't locate the grease nipples.

I'd like to lube the front and rear ends but can't find the grease nipples. I've never had a problem on other vehicles I've owned.

Check the area where the fittings should be.The holes may be plugged, you will have to remove the plugs and install grease fittings.
Hope this is of some assistance.

Where is a diagram for grease /lube under chassis locations

under-body only.check
my guess not gear lube. right>? axles/gear boxes, (a plenty)
2wd, or 4wd?
what do you want to grease, you never said.
bearings, tie-rods, ujoints etc. only>?

are you asking for ZERKS? only?
or all places on car with grease.?
are you saying just grease? and only things that must not be removed for service with grease, (like wheel bearings and splines)

The free book posted over 200 times.
chapter 0, read that? lube/maintenance?
see the 4wd exceptions?
my 2010 has none.

the map includes LUBE points.
but adds gear boxes, axle gears, GL4 and GL5 (gear lube) is lube. too
but engine oil is not lube, to 1996 books.

1993.(oldest for GC) the word LUBE is wide reaching...
i love the NUT typo.
my guess is you meant grease only
and with no disassemlbly

How many grease nipples does a ford maverick 1997 2.7td have and were are they located

By 1997 almost all cars were coming from the factory's without grease fittings, they had lifetime joints (haha). The only place you are likely to find any would be the front suspension, ball joints and tie rod ends. Most aftermarket suppliers still produce these parts with grease fittings so there are likely to be some fittings in the front end. Hope this helps.

How to grease rear axle

No greasing at rear axle's, it's lube by the gear oil in the rear-end, just need to check that it's filled at level with gear oil.

I have an 2003 Acura RSX . I cannot find the lube nipples anywhere on this car.

If by lube nipples you mean grease fittings, which is where you grease the ball joint and the a arms etc. Most new autos including Acuras don't have them. In order to grease them they do make a grease gun end that is a hollow needle that can be inserted into the rubber part between the joints. I hope this helps.

Sorry, I made a mistake. I would like to know how to lubricate the suspension.

nothing to lubricate suspension wise. there are chassis points that can be lubed. look for grease nipples in the undercarriage, front end mostly

Lube Job

If you have 5/16 plugs in the front end parts you can replace them with standard zirk fittings and lube them...many do not and the only way to service them is when they fail, new parts will have a provision for a fitting.

About 2" inboard of the cast steel end housing, you don't need to be too precise. There is not much room between the arm tube and the axle tube so don't use a nipple with too long a thread.

U joint

I checked NAPA website, depending on engine size, trans, etc u joint should be approx. $30. I would think a good garage could do it in an hour. To try and determine if this is the problem you can do the following: Block the front wheels securely, jack up the back of truck (rear wheels off the ground) put truck in neutral (not running!) get underneath locate u joint (it's at the end of driveshaft and in front of the rear axle). Grab onto it with both hands, try to move it back and forth. Depending how bad it is, you should be able to notice some wobble, or play at the u joint. If your truck is full time 4x4, you will not be able to check it this way. Truck should be out of 4X4 to check this way. Grease all the lube points on the suspension twice a year, this will prevent stuff like this wearing out quickly. (some u joints are sealed and can't be greased)A repair manual will show you all the lubrication points, type of grease to use etc for about $20 good luck! countrycurt0
