Check the BROWN ground wire where it attaches to the throttle body by a 10mm headed bolt.. Audi used a thread sealer here and it makes poor contact.
Check the fuel pressure. Should be 55 psi dropping to 25 psi or so when engine off after 30 minutes. If fuel pressure drops to near zero, warm engine start will be hard. This is caused by a faulty fuel pump check valve or accumulator ( Grey looking can under rear of car with two hard fuel lines to it.) Pressure should be checked before the fuel distributor.
The warm up valve ( WUR ) can also cause hard starts. It is on the side of the engine with two stainless braided hoses going to it. It can be rebiult by Larry at CIS FLOWTECH.

The intake trunking has a habit of cracking open between the folds and admitting false air as engine moves. .

Same thing happened to me, I wasted $1000 at the dealership fixing a crank box vent hose and throttle body.....Ended up being the clutch, which went out completely about 2 weeks later....So i'd have that looked at

i would recomend you to sell your audi as fast as you can before its too late, audi is a very bad car, hasnt had any good reviews at all and in cars, its really luck if you dont have any problems with them. sell it and buy a new car, you can get a new one at a good price, the most important thing is that it will be new, keep that in mind ! good look

if the fuel is getting past/through the filter and to the distributor head ,make sure all lines are on fuel pump inside tank ( access under floor inside trunk ) also see if the is fuel to the injector lines, undo a line and see ,check for fuel at the cold start injector.poor fuel pressure can be a pressure regulator issue ( small gey box attached to fuel dist head attached by 2 screws )

usually when a vehicle backfires, it is caused by the timing or a bad crank sensor. symtoms of a bad coolant sensor are--poor cold idle, stalling, ( rich mixture, retarded timing) slow idle speed, cold hesitation or stumble, and poor fuel milage. check coolant sensor first. good-luck!!
