I have a 1989 Chevy 20 van with a 5.0. It starts fine, but dies right away. You have to keep pumping gas to keep it going. Could this be the fuel regulator,or maybe the diaphram?

- Injected.I wonder if maybe the EGR valve? seems to get enough gas, but it chokes out

Clarification Request

If egr is stuck wide open that will not help...I'd do a code check and watch for temp sensor, mass air flow sensor codes...ignore any O2 codes for now. And it also could be pressure regulator...default is usually full on.

try replacing the ignition coil if it was backfiring while being driven. or maybe a bad distributor cap.
