Depending which one your particular tach calls for -

The Tach wire is BLUE (AC) @ Diagnostic connector between headlight and battery.

The Speed Sense wire is BLUE/WHITE BLUE/WHITE (AC) @ Cruise module above driver kick

Tachometer not working on my 95 Toyota pickup 4x4 jumping up and down

bad tach, seems .
bad tach, or bad wires to it or power to it bad.
i dont know what engine option you have
but most use the ignitor signal to do this.
later about 1996 the ECU uses CKP sensor to run the tach directly
in that case bad tach, bad wires to tach or bad power feed to it.
it only has 3 wires.
power
ground
sig
one is bad, or its bad.

Dont know what wires is what on this xtu e tach to install it in my 1994 civic

you want to install a TACHOMETER.
well, that takes some magic,
depends on WHAT engine is in car.
why not ask, XTU? that question, after all it is THEIR tach.
all cars have different design ignitions, (gas engine)
and have a different type tachometer connection and signal.
post the XTU drawing pin outs, and names
then post country???
then post which of these engines, in GEN 5 CIVICS
you cant fix car engines or for sure modify them if you dont know what is under the hood.

most engines have a TACHO line. (not all) but most
and we must make your TACHO like this electronic signal.
it can be easy or hard.
Some Tacho gauges, will accept all signal, others, very few.
on my car its a 40volt plus. others its less or inverted.

98 civic lx where is ignition coil?? ++

IT'S A BLUE WIRE ON THE BACK OF THE CONNECTOR THAT WOULD NORMALLY GO TO THE FACTORY TACHOMETER IN THE DASH. YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE DASH GAUGE CLUSTER TO GET AT THE CONNECTOR. THE CONNECTOR WILL NOT BE PLUGGED INTO ANYTHING IF YOU DON'T HAVE A FACTORY TACHOMETER (DX, CX, HX ETC...YOU WILL HAVE TO SPLICE INTO OR CUT THE BLUE WIRE FROM THE PLUG. IT GOES TO TACH SIGNAL WIRE ON YOUR NEW TACH.
