Question about 2005 Ford F-150

1 Answer

Rear Differential Vibration sound when turning...

...when I hit the gas from stop. This is a 2005 Ford F150. I took it in to the Ford they said they need to service the differential. They did and they said everything looked ok. They replaced the fluid. It was fine for a week but now it started again. I called him back and they said it is F150 everything is normal and don't worry about it???

I just don't believe them.

Thanks for your help!

Sounds like the rear end differential is going out. I had a similar problem on a customer's truck, and it was the differential in the rearend. Replaced the rearend, and the noise was gone.

Replace the rear brake pads and rotors. what are

they are to stop the vibration from the rotor to the pads to the foot pedal.
not so much of a shim as a vibration damper. most have a sticky side on them so check for it first before installing.

Believe it or not check your engine and transmission mounts. They are reinforced rubber and they may be giving, causing misalignment, creating vibration.

My 2004 F-150 has a vibration in the rear. The tires have been balanced several times and the differential has been serviced.

Is the U-joint in good shape? Do you have a bent axle? Need to check for these things next.

Whine from rear end

Sounds like a pinion bearing or rear axle shaft bearing.

Noise and vibration above 50 mph

Sounds like front differential or front drive axle issues. Check the front differential gear oil then take er' to the dealership before you end up spending a bunch of $. Most people change their oil frequently in the engine but forget about flushing the transmission fluid and changing oil in the front and rear differentials. I have three Ford 4X4s. Two which really get used hard. The 93 has 311K miles and still runs excellent. Trans and differentials get a fluid change every 25K miles and moble one synthetic engine oil changes every 5k miles.
