Question about 1991 Pontiac Trans Sport
Check fuel pump relay and take off fuel pump relay. And check connection. Test fuel pump i remeber green wire or green. Putting other side your battery plus connection And hearing nose (sound). Thats simple test your fuel pump test

You dad may be right... turn on the key and go to the rear of the car and listen for the hum of the fuel pump. basically you have no choice but to drop the tank unless you feel there is enough clearance to do it without.... but in the long run... dropping the tank will save you alot of headaches.
