Question about Oldsmobile Silhouette

My van has dual air controls for the cabin worked from a verticle slider with the two controls. Drivers side works normally but it blows hot air from the passenger side, even when the slider is set to the lowest (cold) position. The air conditioner operates normally, blows cold air onto drivers side only, although I assume it is mixing with the hot air coming into the cabin on the passenger side. What is causing this? I am suspicious of the temp control slider.

can't see where under the dash you mean since the center consul goes right to the floor in the center in the van. Can you be more specific where to look?

The problem is almost always caused by what is called the Air Temperature Control Blend Door Actuator Motor, I have not seen any issue with the slider that sends a signal to the door to blend heater and AC air streams to give the desired outlet temperature.

There is one thing that sometimes will correct this issue in all GM cars with this problem, disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, this will recalibrate the system and may correct the problem, if not the temp control servo motor may need to be replaced as stated in first post.

I have called my friend at GM he says the problem can be from the old design control head, there is a new design out there, also that indeed the blend door actuators cause issues and the battery disconnect will correct the issue sometimes, there is no one fix, it is caused by a combination of problems.

The vents are most operated by vacuum... i would suggest that the passenger side vent is not moving to the position where there cold air would flow thru the vent. perhaps listen for a vacuum leak to see if that is what is causing the vent on that side not to open.

look under the dash... you should see a few plastic hoses... often they are colour coded as well. they will be near the duct work for the vents that carry the air

My ac when on blows hot on passenger and cold on driver,we have already changed compressor, dryer, cabin filter, actuator, freon, and cleaned the lines

does this car have dual temp controls so the temp can be different then what the other side is set at.if so you could have a temp door motor for the passenger side that is not working and needs replacing.if the a/c blew cold on the drivers side then you have done alot of unnecessary work and expense as this should have told you the a/c system was working okay as far as what you have replaced.check to see if the air temp door(motor) is the problem for the passenger side.

You have a faulty switch. Go to the salvage yard and buy a used one, pull off the trim panel and replace it. I just did one of these last week with the same symptoms.

Lincoln lse 2005 ac blowing hot air on left side!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your LS is blowing hot air on one side of the dash and cold on the other the problem most likely is the Dual Coolant Control Valve. The DCCV is used to control cabin temperature. This valve is mounted down low on the passenger side of the radiator fan shroud, and has 3 coolant hoses connected to it. This valve if found to be faulty will need to be replaced to correct the condition.

A/c and heater

Is it leaking antefreeze?
The thermostat might be gone or needs a bigger thermostat
It could be a vaccum leak for the drivers side blowing cool air and the passenger side blowing warm air
Does it have dual air control switches one for drivers side and one for passengers side?
