If it is like most cars the rotor slips over the hub. If not remove the hub and see if there is a bolt there. You have to hit it pretty hard, like with a small sledge hammer with a block of wood against the rotor.

Grinding or rubbing noise in left front wheel, mostly when braking . What do i look for?

Grinding is a sign on brakes in need of replacement. Your pads are worn through and now the metal backing plate of the pad is grinding up against the rotor. Replace the pads and rotors asap to prevent further damage.

I'm sorry to disagree with your mechanic, but it sounds to me like your rotors are warped.I would go ahead and replace rotors and pads with an estamated 5k sounds like they are thin.

Front vibration when braking. replaced both calipers & pads. Any thoughts?

usually a front vibration during braking is a warped brake rotor. if it only vibrates from the front wheels during braking, it's bad brake rotors. brake rotors cost $23.00 each at auto zone auto parts stores. just confirmed that for you. thank you for choosing fixya.com

When driving on highway and brakes are applied the steering wheel and brakes shake heavily

Sounds like you have one or more out of round (warped &/or rusted) rotors. Most times you can pull each wheel & visually see rusted or ridged rotors, but not always. The brake pads might appear to have plenty of lining left on them, but the rotors are no longer true. Rust & heat will damage the smooth (true) condition of the rotors that is necessary for the proper operation of the brakes. You can have each rotor checked for proper runoff individually. Start with fronts first, even though the rears are just as likely to cause the pulsation you are experiencing. Take them to any auto parts store & have them checked for out of round. Once you locate the problem rotor or rotors, you can usually machine them 1 time or compare with the price of new & machine or replace.

Front end shimmys when applying brakes no loose parts brakes good could possibly be front bearings if so how do you get them out very rusty and bolts in poor shape

The rotors for the brakes are most likely warped, they need resurfacing ,the auto parts store can do this for you.

When I press on the brakes the car shakes a little, I can feel it in the steering wheel.

The front brake rotors are warped. Have front brakes checked and see how much pad is left. Some shops will offer to "turn the rotors". This means they will machine them. This is a quick fix. For the correct way is to replace them. Be careful where they get there rotors from. A cheaper auto parts store may carry them for less, but can also come warped from the manufacture. I would chose NAPA auto parts. I have better luck with them.

Had this problem on gm trucks. Replaced brake hose to caliper and fixed it. The inner core has failed and the outer core will fill and put pressure on the caliper.
