Question about Chevrolet Tahoe
Hello, my 1996 chevy tahoe was running great, but then all of a sudden it would not go anywhere when i put the car in reverse. it would go faward in drive, but no reverse, what could be the problem. the dip stick for the trans looks clean with the red colored fluid. help!! thank you
Most likely the "reaction shell" teeth are stripped. This is a common failure in the 4L60E. The transmission will need to be removed, and the reaction shell replaced. Any reputable transmission shop should be able to replace the reaction shell. They may advise you that your transmission needs to be rebuilt. Either way, it is somewhat of a costly repair.
