Engine stalls as if out of gas

I have a 1987 porsche 944. It starts runs a few miles then stops as if out of gas, but I have plenty of gas. It will restart after a short while, run for a few more miles then stop again. I have heard about a fuel pump relay that might might cause this, but know nothing about this.

I had a problem like that. Turned out to be the DME relay. Very common problem on that model. Some say you should never leave your house without a spare. Part is cheap, $30. It is located in the fuse box. Try that first. All other problems will be more intrusive and cost more.
Good luck.

May be your engine temp sensor which adjusts your idle when the engine is cold and as it warms up.
