You may want to have a mechanic do this, not as easy as replacing an accessory belt. But if you decide to do it you will definitley need a timing light, 3 jaw gear puller, a harmonic balance puller and many other tools most people dont have in their garage

Hi my name is Allen!
The gasket you are referring too is behind the timing belt cover next to the engine, remove that cover and pop out the old seal behind the camshaft sprocket at the very top of the engine, lube it heavily and you can push it with your fingers, becareful not the bend it are it will still leak, you must get it all the way in or it will pop out again.

I have a dodge stratus and the engine light is on and it drives and its as though someone stopped it with a grabbing sensation but its not the brakes they are not involved. i thought the pause and cut off was caused by the transmission but it not that either

Run standard misfire tests--pull plug, attach to wire, ground plug threads to engine and crank to observe spark. If spark is absent or weak, try a different plug/wire to narrow down to spark problem. Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6715318-causes_gasoline_engine_misfires . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.
If spark is good, run compression test on bank to check for bad valve/gasket.
If compression is good, suspect injector.
