I have a stra essentia 2006 model both back doors are locked they stay closed all the time

Hi Ndyebo,

First thing to check is whether there is a child-safety lock feature on the vehicle -- ensure it's not activated which has the effect of disabling both the windows and locks. Next, check the fuse for the power locks and fuse for the remote central locking system. I would imagine if the front door locks work, then the central should be fine, so focus on the rear. If these steps don't help, then I would move to testing the lock actuators on both rear doors.

Good luck.

The driver side rear door will not lock

The arm leverage that opens, and lock has a loose connection somewhere. You will need to open your door panel and get into the door to see where it has become loose.

Several times I have opened either of the two rear passenger doors, and then I am unable to close them. The latching mechanism won't allow the doors to close.

Usually the only time the lock changes to the closed position when the door is open is when you brush yourself or something against the lock mechanism.

Need to remove left rear door panel

  1. If equipped, remove the window crank handle by using a retaining clip removal tool.
  2. Remove the door handle bezel by inserting a flat trim removal tool between the door panel and handle bezel to release the locking tabs.
  3. Remove all door panel electrical connectors .
  4. Remove the door panel push pins and trim screws. Lift the door panel up and out to release the door panel locking tabs.

2000 Ford Focus electric locks/acuator failure recurring problem

I would follow their recommendation as I had the same problem with my car. They unhooked the power to that door and it was fine. The problem was a short in the wiring in the door that was causing the problem. So maybe get them to check the wiring in the door as well.
