Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
You have to change one or both of the Volocity Sensor on your left side of your transmission which sends signal to the ECM.
Most of the time it's the rear sensor that goes bad and that is located on the left rear side of the output shaft. There both accessible and held in place by one bolt and the wire connection just un-clip.
Go to Auto Zone or Parts Source, i believe they can scan your ECM for free and can sell the right sensor needed to be change and they also have the how to do instructions.
Easy fix and takes about 45 min from start to finish and would take less if you have a ramp so you don't have to jack up the truck to get underneath it.
Good luck and try not to burn out your transmission, It might be a good time to service the transmission and change the transmission oil and filter if you burnt the transmission oil. There is also an up grade for your transmisson and that's having the servos changed for a corvette servos, the parts is only around $45.00 and take's a transmission shop less then an hour to do and they can do it the same time they change the filter.
Here is a link on hoe it's done, Good luck http://s-series.org/component/option,com_tech_article/Itemid,/item,6/task,item/
