Key fob battery

The battery in my daihatsu copen key fob appears to be "glued" in, shrouded in a plastic resin, although it is a standard CR1632 battery. How do I change it without damaging the key fob?

you need to go to a body shop who does guard rolling and get it done properly as the 17's will look better than 15's, they can do it with out damageing the paintwork

SOURCE: key fob will not undo

If you don't have one that works for the vehicle now, you'll have to take it to your local dealer to have it programmed to the vehicle. Some will charge for this, some will do it at no charge.

If you do have a remote that is programmed and working for the vehicle, then the following steps will allow you to program another remote:

1. Enter vehicle and close all doors.

2. Put seatbelt on (or clip it into the buckle) to shut the warning buzzer off.

3. Put key in ignition, turn to run position but don't start it.

4. Press and hold the unlock button on the working key fob and hold for 4 seconds, then also press the panic button.

5. Release both buttons and you should hear a single chime to indicate it is in program mode. You have 30 seconds after the chime to program any additional remotes you want to program.

6. Press and release both the unlock and lock buttons simultaneously on the remote you are programming. You should hear another single chime.

7. Within 4 seconds after hearing the chime, press either lock or unlock button on remote that you are programming.

Try reprogramming it.

1. Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN 4 times within 6 seconds.
2. Turn the ignition OFF. The system will chime to confirm programming mode.
3. Within 20 seconds, press any button on first keyless remote.
The system will chime once to confirm programming.

4. Within 20 seconds, press any button on second keyless remote.
System will chime once to confirm programming.

5. Turn ignition to RUN to exit programming mode.

Mustang alarm

Ford sold a Ford branded alarm through the parts department. These sometimes were a dealer installed option on new cars. Mine would randomly stop responding to the remote and I would have the same symptoms as you describe. I had it removed and the original equipment factory system still worked. Be warned, if you have the Ford "accessory" alarm, your key fobs (remotes) are different and the method to program them is different from what you will read online. You can tell if you have the system by looking at your key fob. The standard Mustang key fob is a 4 button (lock, unlock, panic, and trunk). The accessory alarm uses a 3 button remote and clicking unlock twice would pop the trunk. I really wish I had a picture of the remote because there are 3 button Ford key fobs for cars without a trunk release although I don't think you should have one on a Mustang. Long story short, if you have the accessory alarm, you can solve your problem by having it removed but you will need new 4 button key fobs to remotely lock/unlock your doors

The key fob for my car will not unlock the doors or start the engine

You say that your key fob does not unlock the car. Try to open the door ordinary and try to start the car. If the car wont start means that your key fob has lost the program and needs re-programing. The other option is either you by any case confused the key fob with the standard key which is only to unlock the doors. The last senario is when you have opened the key fob to check the battery lost the microchip and that is the reason for not starting. Check following my advice. Good luck.

I repalced the right headlight but did not disconnect the negative battery cable per the owners instruction manual and now my key fobs do not work. However, my check engine light is no longer shows up on...

To clear all computer problems on any vehicle; disonnect the battery for 15 minutes and reconnect - I would try that first. It's kinda like doing a reboot on your PC...essentially you're doing the same thing when you disconnect the battery on a car.
If the check engine light appears again...take the vehicle to have the codes read.
As far as the FOB goes, that may be just a battery issue in the FOB itself, although it may seem coinsidle, I don't think it's related.

Good Luck,
Mike...

Change the oil filter of a daihatsu copen

unless there is something unusual about it... the filter unscrews and you install a new one. you should put a drop of oil on your finger and rub it around the filter gasket before you screw it back on the motor. often you will need an oil filter wrench, abit of a misnomer as it is basically a band that goes around the oil filter with a handle. the newer style is a large socket piece that fits over the end of the oil filter and you turn with a rachet.

Electrical problem in Daihatsu copen

ok so looks like this one has been solved by the dealer.
I had it towed to them, and they said the battery had to be replaced (only had 8vlt in it)
and something to do with the cell inside the battery had failled. No surprise here - its the same battery which came with the car - 5 years or so ago.
They are still working on it, so wont know if its anything else. Battery's in Australia arent cheap
for this car - 125 dollars, and neither are most parts. But then i use the car for business, and drive everywhere. The car was used everyday, but i suspect it went flat, as most copen owners would know, seems to go flat if you dont use the car for some period of time, like 1 week or so,'
